As technology has evolved, the different methods used by the General Directorate of Traffic to detect infractions have evolved. The DGT not only uses the classic roadside radars, but also helicopters and, in recent years, the use of drones has become popular. If we want to stay calm and check that we have not committed any irregularity at the wheel, we can do it comfortably without leaving home.

To find out if we have any pending fine to pay for which we have not received any type of notification or if we have committed one knowingly and we are not entirely sure if you have caught us, we have different methods to be able to find out and, incidentally, pay the fine as soon as possible to take advantage of early payment discounts, as long as we agree with the fine.

If we pay the fine during the first 20 calendar days from the notification, we can obtain a 50% discount on the amount. We must know that, by paying the fine benefiting from this discount, it implies that we give up recourse since we are satisfied. If we file an appeal, we lose the right to the 50% discount.

From the DGT website

Through the DGT website, which we can access from the following linkwe can both consult the fines that we have pending and make the payment and benefit from the discount for prompt payment, with what this implies as we have explained in the previous section.

To find out if we have fines, we must click on Access the Electronic Headquarters, and then on Access my DGT. Next, we must use the electronic certificate that we have installed on the computer, access through a PIN or with a permanent key. These last two options are available instantly by registering on the web. To access through the electronic certificate, we must go in person to an official body.

Once we have accessed the portal correctly, we go to the Fines section, from where we can check if we have any fine pending payment and, if so, pay it online or appeal it if we are not satisfied and want to present an allegation.

If we do not want to register on the DGT website and we do not have an electronic certificate, we can also check if we have any fines through the BOE, where all fines are published 20 days after being formalized and, in theory, notified to the offender. . through this Web page, we can know, by entering the data of our DNI or name, if we have fines pending payment. From this website, we cannot make the payment of fines.

With the mobile app

Not only can we access through the DGT website to find out if we have any pending fine to pay, but we can also use the application for iOS and Android mobile devices available for download free of charge.

Through this application, we can access the same procedures that we can do from the website. To be able to use the application on our mobile device, it is necessary, yes or yes, to access through the Cl@ve system. We can download this application for both iOS and Android through the following link.
