The Google Play application store is working on a new system with which it will notify you if you are thinking about downloading low-quality apps. The objective is to be able to make a selection between those tools that are recommended and those that could expose you to some type of problem or even risk.
At Google they are aware of the problems suffered by the Android app store. The controls and selection processes are lighter than in the Apple App Store and that usually leads to all types of undesirable applications being sneaked in. Sometimes there are so many options that it is obviously difficult to make a good decision. With this new system, they will try to give us an additional hand.
Helping users
This new system has been discovered by Android Authority experts while they were analyzing the Google Play APK file in version 43.7.19-31. This is how they have come to find a series of information notes that will help users better understand some of the applications available in the Google app store. The three notices they have found indicate the following: “This app is frequently uninstalled compared to other similar applications on Google Play”, “This app has few active users compared to others on Google Play” and “Google Play has little user data. user about this app”. With these three messages it is obvious that Google will be giving us advance notice and making it clear that we are considering downloading an application that could perhaps be dangerous, of poor quality or simply not recommended.
Of course, as those who have discovered it mention, they believe that these messages will be included in the application tabs at the bottom. Today it seems unlikely that Google Play is going to implement a notification to inform the user about this, although it is also true that it could be an interesting possibility. For the moment, it remains up in the air to know what Google’s exact plans are and to begin to see the specific application of these notices which, on the other hand, are going to have important connotations.
After all, there may be applications that are categorized with these notices without deserving it. If we imagine that everything depends on a series of statistical data, we should not rule out that the just end up paying for the sinners. For example, there are apps that have a very specific use, that are installed and uninstalled a few minutes later because we have already used it successfully and do not need to continue maintaining it. In that type of case, safe and recommended applications within their respective fields could be affected. This could also happen with regard to the lack of user information, an aspect that sounds, today, too relative.
But Google needs solutions
We still do not know if this function with the notices will be made official and if it will definitively appear on Google Play. Sometimes there is code and elements that are not made public, but are hidden in different updates because Google wants to test them. That said, it is obvious that the company is looking for solutions to ensure better use of its app store. It is also notably concerned about being able to ensure that security incidents will not occur and that Android mobile owners will always be safe.
In this regard, Google already implemented some time ago in Google Play Protect a system that alerts about threats in real time so that you can be informed if any type of danger is detected. Therefore, it is clear that the company is doing everything possible to make users safer. This new notification system, if incorporated definitively, could become a great novelty.
