We have been able to install the latest major Windows 11 update for several weeks, we are referring to 24H2. Many were looking forward to it, but regardless of the problems it has presented, it is still blocked for some devices and configurations.

Over the last few days we have told you about the multiple errors that many users have encountered after updating. This refers to different sections of the operating system that have even caused blue screens of death and computer crashes. Little by little Microsoft is solving these errors, although as we told you, there are still certain configurations that cannot receive 24H2.

We must take into consideration that the company itself confirmed a serious compatibility problem of the new update with a certain hardware component. And as a result of a multitude of user reports, they were forced to confirm certain connection problems with USB devices that blocked the arrival of 24H2 to Windows 11.

As Microsoft itself informed us, this block affects computers that use certain devices such as stand-alone scanners and other components compatible with the driverless scanning protocol eSCL or eScanner Communication Language. This includes hardware products such as multifunction printers, faxes, modems and other eSCL network devices.

Hence precisely why many users around the world have found themselves unable to update Windows 11 at 24H2. With everything and with this, Microsoft is now taking action on the matter to solve this failure and thus lift the block for computers that use this specific type of device.

Microsoft solution to be able to install Windows 11 24H

In fact, the software giant has lifted the compatibility block that prevented updating to Windows 11 24H2. All after solving a bug that caused the aforementioned USB connection problems with some scanners.

For now, the company advises users not to update manually using the Windows 11 Setup Assistant or Media Creation Tool. All this until the problem is definitively solved.

It must be kept in mind that in reality the failure we are talking about here related to scanners and similar devices is mainly caused by an incompatibility related to the drivers. We are referring to the drivers that make these components work when connecting them via USB to our Windows 11-based computer.

Thus, just a few hours ago it was solving the problem with the cumulative update KB5048667 that it just released. This patch will gradually reach computers compatible with Windows 11 to solve this failure with the scanners so that they can now install the most recent update. All those who have not yet received KB5048667 will probably do so in the coming days.

In fact, the firm is currently recommending that we install the latest update that we mentioned. It claims to contain important improvements and resolutions to issues, including this one with USB devices. Microsoft also notes that some will have to wait around 48 hours after installing KB5048667 before being offered the 24H2 version.

This is nothing more than another move by the company that develops the operating system, so that the majority of its users can have the most recent Windows 11 update.
