It is not your Internet connection, WhatsApp is down in Spain

WhatsApp is the main instant messaging application that we use in Spain, right now it is completely down in our country. If you have sent a WhatsApp, you will see that the “clock” appears indicating that it has not reached the WhatsApp server, even if you do have an Internet connection working without problems. It is not your connection, it is that this popular messaging application is completely down.

For about 15 minutes, the popular WhatsApp application is completely down and does not work. It doesn’t matter what operator you are from, you simply won’t be able to send or receive messages. Even if you have some statuses to view, the uploaded photos and videos will not load either, since the information that will appear to you is only the information cached in the application.

How long will the fall last?

A few years ago there was a big fall of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, due to a bad configuration that they carried out in the US and that affected the whole world. In this case, it seems that only the WhatsApp instant messaging application has been affected, because both Facebook and Instagram are working correctly, without slowness or problems related to uploading photos and videos.

Although there have already been some outages in the past that have lasted a few minutes, it seems that in this case it is lasting longer than normal, because we have been offline for more than 15 minutes. Approximately, from 10:30 p.m. is when the problems of receiving and sending messages began.

What to do when these falls occur?

When you notice that the messages of this instant messaging application do not leave your terminal, or you do not receive any WhatsApp, the best thing you can do is rule out that it is your Internet connection:

  • Try deactivating WiFi and activating 4G and 5G data, to rule out that the problem is from the fixed Internet connection (optical fiber).
  • Restart the mobile terminal, it is possible that the app has been blocked for some reason and that is why it is not working correctly for you.
  • Try asking a family member or friend with another Internet operator, if they are also having the same problem. It is possible that the fall is in our Internet operator, that is to say, that it is not a problem of the messaging application itself but of the operator.

If you still have problems using the application, then it is probably a WhatsApp problem.

How do you know when it will work again?

The best way to know when it will work again is to send a message on WhatsApp while waiting for us to go from the typical “little clock” to a tick, which means that the message has been received by the WhatsApp servers. If we see that there is a double tick, then it means that the recipient has received it correctly, and therefore, it is working well for both us and our recipient.

When a service like this goes down, the return to normality can take several minutes, therefore, it is possible that it will work again for you, but not for many of your contacts, so you must be patient until it is available again and the problem is normalized.
