From Netflix they once again demonstrate the great success they do with the planning of their releases and make it clear that they have the upper hand firmly by the handle. The platform is experiencing a great moment with its number 1 series, a disturbing production that is generating all kinds of comments. And, because of this, it plans to take advantage of this to continue increasing the grotesque side of the story with a premiere that will arrive in a few days.

We recently talked to you a couple of times about Monsters: The Story of Lyle and Erik Menendez, which has been part of the saga about murderers and terrible cases presented by the iconic Ryan Murphy. Although it seems that it has not surpassed the success of the first volume, the one that adapted Jeffrey Dahmer’s story, it is clear that it occupies a solid position at number 1. It is the most watched series of the moment and, at the same time, it is already generating controversy out of service. It’s what Netflix is looking for and it’s working out well.

A complementary documentary arrives

If you have already seen Monsters: The Story of Lyle and Erik Menendez, you now have an appointment on October 7 with the premiere of The Menendez Brothers. It is a documentary lasting almost 2 hours that has testimonies related to the case and that analyzes what happened in a different way.

And this documentary will not only provide a more realistic look at everything that happened, but it also features interviews that have never been broadcast with the two Menendez brothers. Furthermore, according to experts, it had been almost 30 years since the brothers had met to give a joint interview, which makes this documentary have added value.

Providing new information about the case

One of the brothers has been very upset with the series that Netflix recently released because they recognize that they were not included in any aspect. Therefore, Ryan Murphy would have recreated what happened using archival information and everything that is known to have happened at the time. It is, therefore, a recreation that, perhaps, is not as close to reality as one might imagine. Therefore, this documentary, thanks to the collaboration of the brothers themselves and other people involved in the case, would be presented as the “real version” of what happened.

It’s as if Netflix had prepared us and warmed up the ground with a series, very good, all things considered, and now invited us to discover what really happened. And it is obvious that the platform has viewers right where it wanted, interested, with knowledge of the case and with the interest and curiosity to know what it is that has not been told or that has been told in a different way. The brothers say that there is still much that is not known about the event and it is something they apparently talk about in this documentary.

Also participating in it is Diane Vander Molen, a cousin of the brothers whose testimony provided a different point of view in the trials. Others involved, such as prosecutor Pamela Bozanich, also collaborate. Although many documentaries have already been filmed about what happened, Netflix could have in its hands the closest and most direct piece of what happened to the brothers. After all the commotion they caused and the different versions that have been told of their story, there is no doubt that, right now, they have all the cameras on them.

And taking into account the excellent marketing maneuver that Netflix has done, it is most likely that, after the premiere of this documentary, it will not take long for it to also become the most viewed on the platform. It is obvious that, given what we have seen, the conversations about the Menendez are not going to end within a few days as one might have imagined.
