I must say that for quite some time now I have taken to open source software for many of my daily needs. I’m also quite fond of not installing anything, especially apps that I don’t intend to use often. The TinyTool website is possibly the best resource I currently have, offering over 220 completely free online tools.

More and more open source software developers are opting to offer their tools as “portable.” This means that we can use the application without having to install anything.

I must say that I have a USB memory with a lot of software of this type, so when I need it I pull it. This allows me to keep my computer cleaner and there are no applications that I use occasionally taking up space on my SSD. Additionally, I have the TinyTool tool saved in bookmarks and when I tell you about its capabilities, you will also add it to bookmarks.

A “magical” website for your daily needs

There are different actions that I do quite often due to work. Among them are converting currencies, metric units or images, among others. Something I always did was look for any website that would allow me to do these simple actions (and others) as quickly as possible.

Now, I have the TinyTool website as quick access within Chrome, which has all the tools I need. Thanks to it I don’t waste time looking for websites that allow me to do simple tasks and I don’t need to install anything.

Not only does it allow me to save storage space on my hard drive, it also avoids compatibility problems and the need for application updates.

Its great strength is that since it does not have to be installed and works in a browser, it can be used without problems with Windows, Linux or MacOS. The specifications of your computer also do not matter, something that is surely to the taste of many users with older systems. Additionally, it has a dark mode that reduces eye strain significantly.

This website currently has just over 220 different tools available at no cost. All these tools are perfectly categorized, to make it easier to navigate and search for the function that interests us.

It has the following sections:

  • Text analysis: perhaps the most interesting of the available options is the word counter, since the rest are very specific. Maybe it lacks a text correction tool.
  • Image converters: possibly the most interesting function that allows you to rotate the image, mirror it, resize it and change the format, among other options.
  • Web management tools: they are mainly focused on those who have small websites or blogs, to optimize them and improve their loading times.
  • SEO for YouTube: very interesting function for content creators, allowing you to optimize your text strategy to position and thus improve your visibility.
  • Tools for developers: this is perhaps more specific, but very interesting, since it has several editors, validators and JSON converters.
  • Online calculators: allows you to perform different simple calculations and estimates. It includes several interesting additional functions such as calculating sales tax, PayPal commissions or loans, among others.
  • Unit conversion: brings together a large number of unit conversion functions, such as weight, temperature, time, currency, energy and others.
  • Binary converters: this one is also more specific for developers or in case you want to talk to a friend by converting text to binary.
  • Other tools: the last section contains a set of various tools such as a QR code generator, IP address search, password generator or RGB converter, among others.

Like me, you are not going to use all of these tools, but you will use a few of them. For me it has become an essential website with which I can do many daily tasks that, otherwise, I would have to search in several places or install specific software.
