A portability is a process in telecommunications services in which the customer can change provider without changing their phone number. Orange wants to make things easy for users and, for this reason, gives a series of tips on its website so that switching from one operator to another is a complete success.

Sometimes, teleoperators can make things difficult for customers to change companies and keep their number. Faced with this situation, many prefer to change their phone, even though this means notifying all their important contacts. However, Orange does not want this to happen and, to ensure that all users can continue using the one they already have, it has a few recommendations.

Do not delete portability codes with Orange

If you want to take advantage of Orange’s offers and switch from your current provider to the aforementioned operator, the process is simpler than you think. According to the official website, the company sends two different codes via SMS. You should not delete any of them if you do not want any setbacks that delay your portability request.

The first code they send is essential for portability. To avoid any mistakes, Orange explains that it always begins with 004 and is the reference number for your contract change process without changing the number. They don’t usually ask for it, but it is advisable not to delete it, since, if any problem arises, it will speed up the process.

On the other hand, the second SMS you receive will contain the order code. This is not the number assigned to the portability, but it is the one that allows you to track the process. This way, if you are impatient to change companies, you will be able to know where they are in real time.

How long should I wait?

It is normal that, after starting a port, you want it to end as soon as possible. Although the process is practically carried out by the operators themselves, it is most likely that we want to get the issue out of the way as soon as possible and enjoy the promotion we are currently enjoying.

So that you don’t have to worry about it, Orange gives you an estimated time frame of two working days. That is, if you request the change on a Tuesday, it will be available on Thursday. However, if you do it on a Friday, you will have to wait until Tuesday of the following week.

On the other hand, the operator also offers the possibility of you choosing the portability date yourself. If you need it for a specific day, it lets you order it. Of course, they set a limit that, at most, one month has passed since the request.

What to do after porting?

Once the portability is processed, Orange will give you your new SIM card. According to the company, the operator change is carried out at dawn, between 2 AM and 6 AM. Afterwards, you will have to change the SIM in your mobile.

If you have made the portability through an online purchase or by phone, it is possible that the card will arrive at your home. Therefore, you will only have to place the new SIM in your smartphone. On the other hand, if you choose to request portability in a physical store, you must go to the establishment to receive the SIM and follow the instructions provided. Regardless of how you obtain the card, by inserting it into your mobile phone, you will be able to enjoy the contracted Orange services immediately.

Problems with Orange portability

It is possible that when you port your number, an error may occur and it may not work. In this case, Orange recommends that you check the line with your previous mobile phone provider. You will only need to insert your old SIM card and check if it is still operational.

If you do not have a line on the old SIM, but the Orange card still does not work, you can call the telecommunications brand’s customer service. Remember that the number for individuals is 1470 and, for self-employed workers or companies, it is 1471.
