Among the pre-installed applications in Windows that Microsoft offers us, Paint is one of the oldest and has as many followers as those who reject it. Now the software giant wants to give this program a spin to multiply its functionality and improve its user experience.
As we have commented on multiple occasions over the last few months, the firm is working on the development of a new version of its Paint application for Windows 11. We have already been able to see the first changes, and among the most interesting that We find the so-called Paint Cocreator. Specifically, we are referring to a component based on Artificial Intelligence that will be of enormous help when creating works of art in the program itself integrated into Windows.
To give you a better idea of its usefulness, it should be noted that Cocreator is based on the popular DALL-E platform. As many of you will already know firsthand, this is an image generative AI from the company OpenAI. Likewise, it is worth mentioning that this system integrated into the photos application works in a similar way to Microsoft’s own image generator and is used from Bing. Actually, we tell you all this because we already have the possibility of asking Paint in Windows 11 to create images automatically.
Pros and cons of using Paint AI in Windows 11
As in other similar platforms and generative applications, in this case Paint users only have to describe what they would like the AI to create. Then, internally, the application’s integrated Intelligence is put into action. It interprets the instructions in text form that we have given it in Paint, and provides us with three works of art.
In addition, we have several customizable parameters to obtain the results that best suit what we are really looking for. We have the possibility of selecting a specific style before the creation process itself begins. These creations in the form of works of art will appear in Paint itself. Once we click on one of them, it opens in the large format image editor itself.
Another positive aspect is that we have the possibility of editing or saving these automatic creations by the AI. Of course, we must keep in mind that here we will continue to have the usual limitations when it comes to the editing tools offered by the program included in Windows. However, we find some new functions that allow us to remove backgrounds from photos or use layers, as we recently told you.
Here, in principle, users receive 50 credits to start using Paint Cocreator once their Microsoft account is linked. At the moment it is not known how to add more credits to the account, something that will be communicated later. This is something that is only available, at the moment, for Windows 11 Insiders and in certain countries. But of course, as is usual with these new functions, its availability will increase over time until it reaches everyone.
