Sony returns to make a bad decision in the PlayStation environment, where its users have taken another click. The company shows that, in relation to making decisions, they are not getting too close.
A few weeks ago, Sony decided to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation brand leading to the PS5 console a series of themes that celebrated the history of these consoles. Each of the themes recovered one of the mythical lit from previous consoles, including both image and sound effects. Now, those issues disappear.
Today is the last day
We must start by saying that, from the first moment, we knew that the issues would end up disappearing. It was a temporary initiative and the date of its disappearance was marked on January 31. In that sense, there are no surprises. Anyway, what has happened in the period of time in which the issues have been available is that users have turned to them. They have been a discovery, an excellent way not only to customize the console, but also to put some nostalgia in our day to day. Because, after all, we all liked to relive those moments of enjoyment that we live in the past, in more relaxed times, when we played with the first and second playstation.
Therefore, users rose in arms at the time Sony recalled that the classic themes were going to disappear, irremediably, today. The good news, because at least there is a good one, is that the company has promised that the classic themes will return “in the coming months.” For that to happen, from Sony they say they have to make some adjustments in order to continue offering the issues to users.
And for the moment?
At the moment, we say goodbye to the themes in the history of PlayStation. That is the harsh reality. What is a bit annoying is to see how they disappear when, in reality, the theory indicates that leaving them available should not be a big problem for Sony. How complicated is to leave the issues as they are and make users happy to continue with that nostalgia bathroom they have enjoyed in recent weeks?
Apparently, Sony could have other plans. The most pessimistic already talk about how Sony could be going around the availability of these issues so that, for example, they are only available with the PlayStation Plus service. Other people believe that Sony will end up selling the issues with the intention of making a box taking advantage of the good impressions they have generated so far. Nor should we rule out that the plan is a different one or even that, as they have already said, it is true that it is a problem to leave the issues available continuously without disappearing today. Possibly, we will never know what the reality of the situation is, but what we do know is that there are users who are going to feel sad by not listening to the noisy loud of the first playstation in their PS5.
On the other hand, Sony has confirmed that they have no plans to launch more issues in PlayStation 5. And it seems to us a decision of the most wrong, especially remembering the excellent games of games that were in their two previous consoles. In PlayStation 4, especially some of the issues were able to make us watching the menu for hours enjoying music and images. In addition, for developers it was also a good way to encourage the purchase of some of their titles or the creation of attractive DLC content. Luckily, those PS4 themes continue on your old console if you still have it at hand.
But the truth is that, considering that the issues are something so simple, but that it has generated so much interest, it disappoints us a bit to see Sony’s reaction. On the one hand, to wait to continue accessing these classic issues. And, on the other, for deciding so fast and so openly that there will be no more issues. Don’t you see that it is an incentive that the community likes? It gives the feeling that the Japanese company does not finish connecting with its audience in a generation, that of PlayStation 5, which is being disappointing at many levels. It only remains to expect that the change of president as of April 1, 2025 to modify the PlayStation policy at more than one level.
