Amazon and its Prime Video service have walked with their heads held high at the San Diego Comic-Con, where attendees have been able to enjoy, among other things, the trailer for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Below, we review the news they have announced and, of course, we share with you the trailer in question.
Just a few hours ago, Prime Video transformed San Diego Comic-Con (better known as SDCC) into the perfect occasion to celebrate having a subscription to Amazon’s video platform. The streaming service has announced a series of new releases and series renewals that has gotten fans excited and looking to the immediate future with great expectations.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is back
Of course, one of the main news stories has been the presentation of the trailer for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The series, which did not satisfy all viewers with its first season, could solve many of its problems with the second batch of episodes.
Premiering on August 29, season two is just around the corner. Judging from the trailer above, there’s no doubt that the season is looking great. This new wave of episodes will feature the return of Sauron and show how some of the rings were forged. Plus, there’ll be plenty of elements fans will recognize in the upcoming episodes, like larger-than-life creatures, including a younger version of Shelob. And there won’t be a shortage of Ents and some of the best battles the series has seen so far.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will have five seasons, so it is still in its infancy in a story that is expected to become epic. And fans should prepare themselves, because we will be able to see Tom Bombadil on stage.
Prequel to The Boys
Titled Vought Rising, this series will act as a prequel to the universe of The Boys so that we can continue to learn more about what is considered one of the best exclusive productions on Prime Video. The protagonists of the series will be Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, who will once again give life to the characters for which we already know them: Soldier Boy and Stormfront.
The series will follow the origins of Vought in the 1950s, but will focus primarily on the origins of Soldier Boy. The top brass of The Boys are also in charge of this new series, so it is expected to reach the same levels of quality. In addition, they already advance that it will be quite a spectacle and that their intention is to blow the minds of fans and “disturb their souls” as they have already done with the main series and other spinoffs.
Series renewals
In addition, although the cancellation of the American Rust series has been confirmed behind closed doors, which thus receives its second and more than likely final cancellation, Prime Video has confirmed the renewal of several animated series. Thus, there will be new seasons of both Invincible and Hazbin Hotel and Sausage Party: Foodtopia. In the case of Hazbin Hotel, both the third and fourth seasons have been confirmed, while in Invincible the protagonist will have a new suit.
Several new trailers have also been presented, such as the one for the next season of The Legend of Vox Machina that you can see above these lines and that will premiere on October 3. It would not be surprising if, beyond all this, Prime Video announces some other news in the next few hours taking advantage of its presence at the event.
Finally, Amazon has released the first look at the Like a Dragon: Yakuza series based on the famous video game saga of the same name. The production will premiere on October 24 with its first three episodes.
