Google TV devices and televisions are preparing to receive one of the new features that will be best received among users. With this change you will be able to enjoy your daily life in a more comfortable way thanks to a function that you have surely been waiting for for a long time.

Losing the television remote control between the spaces on the sofa or leaving it somewhere in the house without remembering where it is is something that has been haunting us for decades. Finding a solution is not always easy, since it is not comfortable or common to have more than one remote control, so there are times when we get desperate looking for it. Luckily, the next Google TV update is scheduled to incorporate a novelty aimed at this that will allow you to find the remote wherever it is.

Goodbye to headaches

With the release of Android TV 14, there are many new features and features that will make Google TV devices more useful. One of these novelties is the incorporation of an auditory alarm system known as Find my remote, with which we can discover the place where our beloved remote control is located.

Remote control buttons dedicated to streaming

This is one of the new features of the next version of Android TV that were hidden, but that experts have managed to discover by digging through all the data in the available files.

How will it work?

The bad news is that it will not be compatible with all Google TV controls or with all the controls that use Chromecasts. But it is logical, since, as a basic rule, the controls must have some type of speaker that can be used to reproduce the auditory signal for location. What you will do is, from the television, activate the sound that will help you discover where you have left the remote.

That sound will play for a period of 30 seconds. If you find the remote before the time runs out, you will only have to press one of the buttons on the device, any one, for the alarm to stop. If you don’t find it the first time, you can turn the sound back on and continue trying to locate where it is.

From what is said, it will be necessary to have Android 14 even though this Find my remote function has already been included in the new Onn Pro device from Walmart that has Android TV 12. Surely, to use it on a current television or a model Chromecast, they must receive the relevant update. And, furthermore, you would need to buy a new remote control, because it is unlikely that the one you have already has the mini-speaker.

Find my remote interface on Onn Pro device

This somewhat complicates the scope that this new function may have for the Google TV environment, although it is clear that it will become one of the future features that will enjoy a higher level of popularity in new devices. In the case of the Walmart Onn Pro terminal controller that we mentioned before and that is already using this function, not only does it emit a sound that helps you locate the controller, but it also includes a light. There is a small LED that flashes and that helps, in a complementary way, to make it easier to see where you have left the controller.

In the end, what seems like a very simple option can become something that greatly benefits your daily life and avoids those discussions that we can have if we always leave the controller in places where we don’t remember. Now we just need to see that it is added to more and more devices and that it becomes a standard.
