To give you a better idea, we are referring to the possibility of acquiring free Renfe passes to travel on local and medium-distance trains.
Deadlines and how to request the free Renfe subscription
The first thing we must take into consideration are the deadlines to be able to enjoy these free train passes. Although we can now make the request as such, we will not yet be able to use these subscriptions. It should be noted that the term begins next May 1 and we will be able to use it until August 31 of this year, 2024.
Basically, this means that we can use these Renfe passes in the summer, which is normally when we travel the most. Obviously, this is something that many will appreciate. Likewise, we must keep in mind that Renfe users will be able to use them in Media Distancia services, including Media Distancia, Ancho Métrico and regional Rodalies de Catalunya. Of course, as happened in previous years, first of all, although the subscription is free, to request it we will have to pay a deposit of 20 euros. This is a cost that is incurred for each subscription. Perhaps it is best to make this payment through a bank card, which will make it easier to return the amount later.
And this refund of the deposit will be made at the end of the 4-month period of validity of the subscription. Of course, it is mandatory that we have made a minimum of 16 trips within the trains mentioned above and with the pass duly validated.
