A few months ago, Vodafone announced that it would stop providing roaming coverage in the United States and the United Kingdom under the traditional conditions, as they would now be in countries in zones 5 and 7 respectively. However, they launched a promotion so that it would continue to be included until September 30th so that there would be no difference to countries in zone 1. Now the operator confirms that the offer is being extended a little longer.
There are quite a few people who were surprised when Vodafone announced at the beginning of the summer that the roaming conditions with the operator would change. It was not a good surprise, since some users were already using the company’s roaming service due to its advantageous conditions. Fortunately, the proposal they made at the time is now being extended a little further.
Extension of the offer
Initially, the promotional period that was set until 30 September was very well received, since, although the news was a cold shower, at least summer holidays would be covered. The operator fulfilled its promise to its customers by guaranteeing them that they would not have to complicate their lives if they were going to travel to one of the territories that were included in these two zones.
And although it would have been a nice touch to extend the period until September 30, the operator has now decided to extend the period so that the campaign will continue to be available until November 24. This increase provides even more flexibility to users and, given what we have seen, we will have to wait to see if Vodafone intends to extend the promotion again. Considering the proximity of the Christmas holidays once we have already reached November, it would be really positive if it were extended again and covered the dates of December. However, that is still up in the air.
Countries in zones 5 and 7
Although we mentioned the United States and the United Kingdom in the headline, the reality is that there are more countries that benefit from this promotion. In addition to the United States, Zone 5 also includes Alaska, the United States Virgin Islands, Guam and Hawaii. In Zone 7, along with the United Kingdom, we find a wide range of destinations that are quite frequently chosen as holiday destinations by Spaniards. Zone 7 also includes Monaco, the Vatican, Turkey and Switzerland, as well as the Isle of Man, Guernsey, Kosovo, San Marino and Jersey.
As Vodafone mentions in its terms and conditions, it is possible to take advantage of roaming to call without having to activate anything thanks to what its new Vodafone Mobile rates offer. Simply by having roaming activated we can already benefit from the service under the conditions specified and which we recommend you check on its website.
Regarding data usage in the different areas, it is specified in proportion to each of the available rates. As standard, GB are applied to browsing in zone 1, but while this promotion is active, which will end on November 24, it will also be valid in zones 5 and 7. If you have contracted the Vodafone Mobile rate with 50GB you will have 50GB, with the Mobile 100GB rate, you will have 26GB and with the Vodafone Mobile 200GB rate you will receive 32GB.
In all cases, Vodafone insists on following the usual instructions and details of responsible consumption. What will happen when you finish the GB is that, with the 50GB rate you will browse at 128 Kbps and with the other two you will have a speed of 2 Mbps. The price of this excess data will be billed at 1.88 euros for each GB you consume. In any case, we recommend that you consult all the information, the mobile rates that offerthe fine print and the terms and conditions on the operator’s website so that you have no doubts about how roaming works.
