If you are interested in carrying out security audits on WiFi networks, one of the best distributions for this is Wifislax. This distribution is based on Slackware64 and includes all the necessary tools installed by default to perform different attacks on WiFi networks, regardless of whether they use WEP, WPA or WPA2 encryption, in addition, it also includes all the tools to hack a WiFi network using the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) protocol of the routers. The latest WifiSlax 3.0 version with many changes is now available, and you can download it completely free of charge.
Main changes in this new version
The main change in this new WifiSlax64 3.0 version is that it is now based on the slackware64 15.0 distribution that was released last February, this new distribution comes with Kernel version 5.15.28. This new version brings the latest version of the popular KDE Plasma GUI, it also comes with ffmpeg out of the box, Python3 and many more tools that developers previously had to add manually, but now comes installed by default in the new version. slackware64 15.0.
Regarding the network tools section, all the software for WiFi audits has been updated with the latest version available to solve possible bugs and increase performance, all the scripts integrated in the distribution have also been improved and polished. Of course, for many years it has been possible to add extra modules to the distribution to make it even more complete. You can find all this information in the wireless security forum where users, developers and collaborators upload the different modules tested in the distribution.
As with all versions of Wifislax, it is not necessary to install this distribution on our PC but we can use it in LiveCD mode, and we even have the possibility of starting the distribution in a virtual machine with VMware or VirtualBox.
Once the virtual machine is started, we can see the same graphical user interface as always and with all the software we need pre-installed.
The different menus with dictionaries, scripts to automate WPS attacks and many other tools are still in the “Wifislax” section. In this section we will be able to find different menus with all the tools, such as those oriented towards encryption, credentials, all the dictionaries to speed up obtaining the key, connection managers, forensic tools, the Aircrack-ng suite which is one of the main ones, and we also have all the tools related to WPA, cracking a WPA using the GPU and even all the tools to attack the WPS.
In each of these menus we can find a large number of software and scripts that will allow us to automate different tasks. For example, we can create a custom dictionary based on some parameters that we can define with Crunch, one of the best known, but we also have many other related tools that could be better in certain scenarios.

This Wifislax64 distribution remains one of our favorite wireless audit-oriented distributions. Although there are others that also include a lot of software pre-installed and working right out of the box like Kali Linux, if you specifically want to perform WiFi audits, this distribution is the one you should use because it is the best and most complete that we can find.
