We have definitively shelved the last 2021-2022 League just a few days ago, where Real Madrid was proclaimed champion several days before it ended. After this, now it’s time to look at the next season, where there will be some changes in terms of broadcasting rights. Starting this season and until 2027, Movistar and DAZN will share the matches of the day, each with their own teams. However, the one from Movistar could be chosen by LaLiga.
There are still several weeks left for us to get out of doubt and see who makes up the broadcast teams of both platforms, but what is clear is that it depends on who is in charge of the broadcast, we will see some commentators or others.
LaLiga would take charge of the retransmission
In case you don’t know, the television rights to LaLiga were acquired by Movistar and DAZN. This 5-year agreement will allow both platforms to broadcast 5 matches of each day each, with the exception of three days that are entirely Movistar. In addition, Movistar and DAZN have reached an agreement, and the 5 matches that DAZN broadcasts can also be seen within Movistar Plus+, so this will be the only platform where all LaLiga football can be seen.
In this way, each half of the day will have the production of one of the two platforms, which means that depending on the match we want, we will see a different team of commentators. However, Movistar’s could not be chosen by the operator itself, but LaLiga would.
According to Mundo Deportivo, LaLiga would assume the entire production of the five games that correspond to Movistar. In this way, this entity would be in charge of choosing both the narrator of the booth, the commentators, the journalist on the field and the journalist in the box of authorities, when it deems appropriate. Thus, LaLiga would be in charge of choosing the entire team, unlike the 5 games broadcast by DAZN, since the latter platform will choose its entire team of commentators and journalists.
Movistar still does not confirm this information
This information has not been, to date, confirmed by the blue operator. As we have been able to know in ADSLZone, the broadcast teams for the next 2022-2023 season are not defined at all. There is still a lot of time for LaLiga to start (the first day will take place on August 12), so it is totally normal that there is still nothing tied in terms of the broadcast team.
What Movistar does confirm is that in the new agreement that has been reached for the retransmission rights, LaLiga ensures that it will deliver the signal produced with the same quality as the one that the Movistar Plus+ client has had to date. LaLiga would have also offered Movistar the possibility of assuming the production of the broadcasts, but as we say, nothing has been done yet.
