Today is the last day of the period that they had left from Netflix for users of the streaming platform to configure a main location in their account. And it is that, for several weeks, the message was already appearing that, as of February 21, a main location would be configured in the accounts that had not done so manually. Everything to prevent users from continuing to share an account.

In addition, how could it be otherwise, this measure also affects those users who have Netflix in one of the operators in Spain, such as Movistar, Orange or Vodafone. More than anything, because they cannot get rid of the limitations that have been applied to the shared accounts of the well-known streaming platform.

Pay to share on carriers

Since Netflix’s controversial measure was announced to limit the ability of users to continue sharing an account, Movistar, Orange or Vodafone customers, who had a streaming platform plan in their rates, had doubts about whether they could continue sharing an account. with other people outside your home. And the answer is yes, like everyone. Although, you have to pay.

For example, the standard plan, which has two simultaneous screens, will allow us to share an account with an extra person for a price of 5.99 euros per month per person in Spain. So, adding everything up, it would cost us 18.98 euros per month (12.99 euros for the standard plan + 5.99 euros for the additional person).

On the other hand, if we have the Netflix premium plan that costs 17.99 euros per month, we find the option of having up to 4 screens at the same time. Although, in this plan, the platform allows us to additionally add up to 2 more people to the account for a price of 5.99 euros per person. Therefore, we have a total of 29.97 euros with two extra people in the premium account.

share netflix account

In any case, if we want to share the Netflix account that we have with Movistar, Orange or Vodafone, we must follow the same limitations that the streaming platform has set. And it is that these restrictions are for all users.

And, of course, this also applies to the rest of the telephone companies in which we can also find the rate option with Netflix, such as Pepephone or Virgin telco. Some measures that, for now, will not change. At least, unless the operators themselves reach an agreement with the platform so that the account can be shared with other users.

Set main location

Therefore, starting today, February 21, all Netflix users will have a primary location. The streaming content platform gave this date as a margin for the users of the accounts themselves to decide which was the main location of their ‘Home’. However, if you have not configured it yourself, the platform itself will have done it for you.

More than anything, because they ensure with this measure that any user who enters the Netflix account does so from the same home. To do this, they rely on the IP. In this way, they limit the content if we do not connect to said account under the same IP address.
