It is something that we have been talking to you about for a long time, we are referring to the arrival of Max, the streaming platform that will replace the current HBO as we know it. And the disappearance of HBO Max In favor of the new Max, it is getting closer, which will lead to important changes, including the price.
We are talking about a platform that is already operating at full capacity in the United States and that is expected to arrive in our country throughout the next year 2024. It must be taken into account that here we are referring to a video service owned by Warner Discovery. This firm arose from the merger between Warner Bros and Discovery. Known as Max, it will be the streaming platform that will replace the current HBO to which many of you subscribe.
For practical purposes it will be a completely new streaming platform, although it will share some aspects with the current one. At the moment Max is only working in the North American country, although it is expected to reach the entire world in the coming months. At the moment, as many of you may already know, HBO is priced at 9.99 euros per month in our country. But based on the subscription modes in force in the United States, this is an aspect that will also change when the platform arrives in Spain.
Prices that Max will have in Spain
In fact, probably the new costs of the different subscriptions, because there will be more than one, will probably not convince the majority. As with Netflix, Max will probably offer us a modality with advertising, with transmissions on up to 2 devices and maximum FullHD quality for the current price, 9.99 euros.
Next, Max users can opt for an intermediate subscription plan that will cost 15.99 euros, now without advertising. Of course, to date subscribers of this plan could enjoy content in 4K quality and Dolby Atmos audio. However, starting next December 5, something that will already be effective when Max arrives in our country, the maximum quality of this subscription will also be FullHD and with a maximum of two simultaneous devices, not three as to date.
Hence precisely all those who want to enjoy 4K video quality without ads have to opt for the Ultimate subscription plan, which in the US has a price of $19.99. At the moment the prices that Max will have in our country are not official, but everything indicates that the costs of the North American country will be extrapolated. Therefore, all those who currently pay 9.99 euros per month will surely see a serious increase in the cost of the subscription.
Furthermore, no one ensures that the initial 4.99 promotion that many benefited from at the launch of HBO Max will be maintained as it is a new company.
When does Max arrive in Spain?
Although at the moment nothing is confirmed, Max is expected to land in our country in the first half of 2024. Specifically, the most logical thing is that it does so in the first quarter, or at the latest at the beginning of the second quarter, since It is when the new fiscal year of companies begins and it would serve very well to meet the new objectives and study the acceptance that the service will have.
