As you surely already know, Movistar services will increase in price next year 2024. And not only does the cost of mobile or fiber rates increase, but the cost of the Movistar Plus+ television service will also increase. However, even with the increased cost, there are reasons to consider it not only one of the best options available on the market, but, for many users, the best.
The new year will be accompanied by an increase in costs in Movistar rates. The operator has already notified its customers and has taken care to ensure that everyone is aware of the new prices that will have to be paid starting January 15 of next year. In general, it does not seem that the increase, of an average of 3.1%, is going to have dramatic consequences among subscribers. With Movistar Plus+ there will probably not be a negative impact either.
A reduced rise
First of all, it must be said that the official information transmitted by Movistar at the time it announced the January rate increase only reflected the change that the Movistar Plus+ service would mean for the operator’s customers. In this way, those who are currently paying a monthly rate of 11 euros thanks to having fiber and mobile service, will only have to pay, with the price change, a total of 12 euros.
Of course, subscribers who have television, fiber and mobile, who are paying right now from 68.90 euros per month, will have an increase in their rate of 3 euros (increase in total, not only due to Movistar Plus+). That said, it is to be imagined that there will also be a cost increase in the monthly rate of Movistar Plus+, which is currently set at a price of 14 euros per month for users of other operators. But, at least on the website, Movistar has not revealed anything. If we consult its television section, the only thing we will see will be the current price of 14 euros and the clarification reminding us that there is no permanence. On the other hand, Movistar does not seem to have sent any communication to Movistar Plus+ subscribers who have the TV service, but whose fiber is contracted from other operators. Therefore, it remains to be seen if there is an immediate increase, if it is also 1 euro or if, for now, it is slightly postponed. To clear up any doubts, we have contacted O2 through their WhatsApp customer service and they have confirmed what you can see in the screenshot we have taken of the conversation.
Furthermore, O2 subscribers who already enjoy a discount have also not been informed by email or message about a possible increase.
Is the best option
Although there are many types of user profile and it all depends on what your needs are, even with a price increase of one, two or even three euros, Movistar Plus+ continues to be a very competitive option to take advantage of. There are those who have subscribed recently, just at the moment in which the possibility of contracting the service has been released regardless of what your company is. Other users have been encouraged to do so when O2 has started giving the discount. For all of them, facing a price increase after such a short time using the service would be shocking. Because normally these increases tend to arrive a little later, once the platform has already gained some distance.
However, to see that it is still very profitable, you only have to analyze the pros and cons, as well as the competitive price that Movistar Plus+ continues to have when compared to other television services. The most important thing of all is that flexibility to hire it no matter what your operator is. This has changed the rules of the game, since many people maintained their contracts with the large operators in the market just so as not to be left without the option of having a good TV service. But since the transformation of Movistar Plus+ into OTT, operators such as O2, Digi or Pepephone have begun to attract new customers. Users have seen an opportunity to save without having to sacrifice the television services they love so much.
These operator changes have also occurred among Movistar subscribers, who have been able to save significant amounts by switching to its little sister, O2. In this specific case, with an added discount of 2 euros, it cannot be said that the proposal is not attractive.
What we get with Movistar Plus+ is access to the fundamental channels of TV services in Spain, but also to Movistar’s own channels which, for many of the operator’s customers, are already essential. For those who have subscribed to Movistar for years and years with their decoders at home, switching to another service while being able to maintain the affinity they have for the operator’s channels is a really positive aspect. At the same time, it must be remembered that Movistar Plus+ offers the classic idea of ​​daily movie premieres and football matches, with two LaLiga Hypermotion matches each day and one LaLiga EA Sports match. If we do the math regarding what we get and what we are paying, we continue to have a clear benefit. Therefore, even with a price increase, there is no doubt that Movistar Plus+ will continue to grow in 2024.
