Thanks to Continuity, you can make calls not only on your iPhone, but also on your Mac and iPad. This allows you to answer an incoming phone call on all your devices. But did you know that you can also easily transfer an iPhone phone call to your Mac or iPad, even if you’re already in the middle of the conversation? Move iPhone phone call to iPad and Mac
Continuity works across all your devices that you’re signed in to with the same iCloud account. If a seemingly short telephone conversation takes a little longer, you can transfer the conversation from your iPhone to another device at any time. This is also useful, for example, if you answer a telephone call on your iPhone outside the home and want to continue it via your Mac as soon as you are back at your desk.
To move a phone call, you must be logged in to the same account on all your devices and connected to the same network. If you comply, do the following:
- Before recording or during a call on your iPhone, tap the Audio button at the top right of the calling screen. If there are no suitable devices nearby, the Speaker button is located here.
- A list of suitable devices nearby will now appear, such as an iPad or Mac.
- Now tap the device you want to continue the conversation with.
The calling screen will then appear on your iPad or Mac, with all the associated options. You can then simply hang up the call from that device. If you want to switch back to your iPhone, simply tap the green button at the top of your iPhone screen.
You can transfer a phone call from your iPhone to these devices:
- iPad
- Mac
- HomePod
You can also switch to AirPods using this method. The name of a nearby Apple TV may also appear in the menu, but it cannot be selected as a speaker.
Transferring phone calls does not work with Apple Watch
Unfortunately, you cannot transfer a conversation from your iPhone to an Apple Watch this way. You can, however, answer an incoming call on your Apple Watch and then continue talking on your iPhone by tapping the green bar described earlier. Transferring FaceTime video calls is also not possible.
