As soon as we create our Google account to use it in the search giant’s different applications and platforms, the company provides us with a certain space on its servers. Specifically, we will have 15 free gigs that we can expand later, but already paying.
At first, this amount of space that we are telling you may seem quite high, at least when we create said account. But we must take into consideration that we use all of this to store enormous amounts of data in the form of files and folders belonging to Google platforms. This includes services such as Gmail, or our cloud storage platform, Drive. Therefore, what at first may seem like more than enough space, as the months and years go by, it falls short.
We have used the same Google account for years, so it is not surprising that over time we run out of that precious remote space. Many decide to pay for an increase in the monthly or annual subscription to the search giant. But not everyone is willing to make that periodic disbursement. Hence, below we are going to talk about a series of tricks that will help us free up free space in Gmail.
This way you will be able to have several free gigs in case you find yourself in a situation where you have spent almost everything, with these simple steps. In addition, you will avoid paying Google to continue using the account and its corresponding services and applications.
Free up space on your Google account to use Gmail
We have already told you before that the search giant’s email service is one of the ones that uses the most remote space in our account. Obviously the use we make of this email service has an influence here, although in most cases it is usually quite intensive. Let’s see how to release a good part of it.
Delete the oldest emails. In many cases we have been using Gmail for years, accumulating all types of messages and their corresponding attached files. These represent several gigabytes of storage that we will never use again. The main interface of the web application allows us to go to the last page to see the first emails we send and receive here. We will also have the opportunity to eliminate a good part of them and thus free up several gigabytes.
Use the filters to find the largest emails. We have mentioned before that certain messages contain attached files that, for example, are in the form of videos or photos, and that they are too voluminous. We can always locate them for deletion and thus eliminate a huge amount of space in our Gmail account. In the search bar we just have to use the filter that says Greater than.
Delete everything saved in the spam folder. Almost no one is interested in the spam messages that we receive constantly and daily in our email services. On many occasions, Gmail stores most of these messages in its corresponding folder. We just have to go to it and delete everything stored here to free up space. This is something that is extended to the trash can that is part of the mail service.
