You won’t like this YouTube change: it wants to force you to share everything you see

Privacy when browsing the Internet is not always present. There is a lot of data that we transfer when using social networks or platforms of all kinds. In this case, we echo a change on YouTube that many may not like. It is a novelty that can affect the experience when using this video service and, to avoid it, you would have to provide certain information about the videos you watch to the platform.

Specifically, what YouTube has done is stop showing recommended videos to users who have not logged in to the platform. It also affects those who enter incognito mode. Basically, the main YouTube page appears, but simply with the functions and the search bar; No recommended videos appear.

YouTube stops showing recommended videos without an account

Until now, YouTube showed recommended videos, even if you were not logged in or entered incognito mode. For example, if you performed a search on routers and watched several videos, from that moment on it would show you videos related to that topic and that, perhaps, were of interest to you.

Now this is no longer possible. If you enter the website without logging in, recommended videos will not appear. Even if you start watching videos, new ones won’t appear either. Something similar happens when you enter incognito mode. You will only be able to see these recommended videos if you access from your account.

But why can this be a problem and not liked by many users? The reason is that, in a way, YouTube forces you to log in and share the videos you watch. By partly limiting the platform to incognito mode or without logging in, it can make many decide to set up their account and thus be able to find related content.

One reason for not wanting to log in to YouTube or access it in incognito mode is not to receive recommendations for videos that are of no interest in the future. For example, maybe you want to buy a cell phone or a specific device and you do a search to see videos talking about that product. From that moment on, more related videos may appear, but you are not really interested, since you only wanted to see something specific.

critics

Criticism has already appeared from some users through social networks. Many believe that this is a strategy to “force” us to configure viewing history. Only in this way will we receive those video recommendations that may be of interest on a specific topic.

At the moment, waiting to see if they reverse course or make any changes in the future, what we find when entering YouTube, without logging in, is a message like the one shown in the image below.

YouTube stops recommending incognito videos

In short, if you usually watch YouTube and you like related videos to appear, from now on you will have to log in. That related content will no longer appear when you enter incognito mode or without entering your username. You need to take into account things like how much data a YouTube video consumes, staying secure, and now also being able to watch related content.
