It must be clear that an IPTV list is not the same as an app to access these lists. And much less do we have to assume that they are all illegal. For example, those that help you watch DTT online are completely legal, such as TDTChannels. However, the misuse of these applications has caused even the EU to closely monitor a series of apps that are often used to view pirated content.
To play an IPTV list, you need a player. Many users turn to programs like Kodi, VLC… Although, there are other alternatives that can be used from different devices. Among them, the one compiled by the EU in the ‘Counterfeiting and Piracy Watch List’.
These applications do not offer any content in themselves, but it is necessary to add an IPTV list, whether .m3u, .m3u8 or w3u, to access channels, for example. Hence, the EU is aware of the current use of these apps, since it does not lose sight of whether they are used to watch pirated IPTV or not.
The monitored apps
Although the EU list is older, the truth is that it is still very much in mind. And all because they remain on the blacklist for viewing content illegitimately. In this case, within this, the following applications appear:
- IPTV Smarters
- BIPTV.best
- BestBuyIPTV.store
- King365tv.com
- Theking365tv.pro
- VolkaIPTV.com
Some of these options are better known, such as IPTV Smarters, however, at different times LaLiga has managed to have it removed from official stores such as Google Play. Therefore, it is a clear indicator which users enjoy pirated content through these alternatives.
However, the fact that LaLiga may request, or even execute, the blocking of a certain app or IPTV service does not mean that the EU will do the same. And all because it is protected by court rulings. In this case, the European Union keeps both this list of applications and another series of services under surveillance.
In fact, one of the last ideas they are considering is to block broadcasts that are broadcasting content without the respective rights. But, for now, they remain under the Digital Services Law. So, in this case, they continue to streamline the different processes to put an end to these illegal services, although not as quickly as they would like.
Blocking of operators
Furthermore, this surveillance should not be confused with the blocking of websites or services by operators or ISPs. In these cases, there are organizations that collaborate with the operators in each country with the aim of fighting against piracy. On the part of the EU, this is a watch list in which they closely review whether the use made of these apps is illegitimate or not. Although, what is clear is that in many countries, like ours, they cannot be used.
