Artificial intelligence is increasingly integrated into different applications, services and devices. It seems like everyone wants us to use it, whether we are interested in this technology or not. Like many technology giants, the company Meta, parent of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, has its own version. Well, now Meta AI is starting to be deployed within WhatsApp.
Currently, the artificial intelligences that exist are no smarter than a parrot. Basically, when faced with a question from us, they respond by copying and pasting information that they have stored or that they have “memorized.” Not to mention that they are full of limitations and have a large number of biases.
Meta AI becomes available
Microsoft has already integrated Copilot within Windows 11 and its Edge browser. Google is working on integrating its artificial intelligence into its own search engine. Each technology company is developing its own solution, although they all look quite similar.
It couldn’t be less the company Meta, formerly known as Facebook. In addition to this social network, it has other social networks such as Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads, a recently launched social network that seeks to compete with Twitter (now X).
The company has developed Meta AI, an artificial intelligence that is still in an early development phase. At the moment, only a limited number of users have access to this solution within WhatsApp. It is only available in India and for those who have the app set to English as their default language.
Apparently, Meta AI will appear as another chat within the messaging application. It will appear like any other conversation in this messaging app.
At the moment, it seems that Indian users who have access to this feature have it unlocked in a different way. It appears as an option within the application’s internal search engine. You can see how it allows you to ask Meta AI or perform a normal search for conversations and users.
You have to know that Meta AI would be a combination of ChetGPT and StableDiffusion. We can still ask you a question to do a search, such as asking you to generate an image according to certain parameters. Additionally, this solution allows us to create personalized stickers using prompts.
Meta has highlighted that the integration of this technology is unrelated to the rest of the application’s functions. As they highlight, this AI will not have access to private conversations, will work in isolation and will guarantee the privacy of users.
Initially, it would only be available, first of all, in the smartphone application. Once activated or the first interaction is made, we can now use it in the desktop versions for Windows and the web version. But of course, it will be necessary to first use WhatsApp on our smartphone. It is possible that it will end up being integrated into the rest of the group’s social networks and applications in different ways.
According to the first reports from users who have used it, it is not far from Copilot or ChatGPT 3.5. The messages or prompts used have been used in the three IAs. They highlight that the answers are quite similar; in fact, the differences between the answers would be minimal. The only strength of Meta AI is that it adds to WhatsAppe and therefore significantly improves or simplifies its usability.
