O2 is one of the companies whose rates have always been best suited to my usage. However, I miss some extra services that, once you use them, become essential. Like this one that Vodafone offers us included in its rates. We will tell you about it.

Spain is one of the most competitive countries in terms of telephone operators There is currently a wide range of operators that differ from each other in small details that, in some cases, can be more than enough to gain their loyalty forever. Or, at least, for a long period of time. Even if this means having to bear a higher cost.

This is exactly what happened to me. with O2. The company has always responded exceptionally well to any problems I have had over the years, and I also find their rates to be very competitive for my usage. However, there is one detail that may be decisive in me choosing to leave them aside for a while: the roaming in the United States.

Vodafone includes roaming in the US

If you’re planning a trip to the United States in the next few months, you’ve probably already found out about the cost of connecting to the Internet from that country. In the case of O2, as we can find on their website, connecting to the Internet with our mobile phone to make a query, exchange messages or update our social networks will cost 6.05 euros for every 500 megabytes. If we use our mobile phone a lot, as is usual when we travel, this can translate into a significant sum of money if we’re not careful.

With Vodafone, however, everything would be included in our rate, as they state in their website. The red operator is the only Spanish operator that considers the United States as if it were a European destination. And, therefore, roaming is included with the same limits that we would have if we traveled to any country around us, such as France, for example. In this way, we will reduce the chances of having a surprise in our final bill as a result of an expense that we had not anticipated before leaving on our trip.

The limits of roaming in Vodafone

Although Vodafone has had unlimited data plans in its service portfolio for several years, it does limit the data we can use when we are outside our borders. It is advisable to know these before travelling to assess whether it is convenient to contract a different plan that can offer us a service more adapted to our needs. All of them can be contracted from this link.

  • The Initial yu Mobile Rate It includes 30 GB of data in our country and the same amount of data in roaming, so we will not notice any difference. The cost of the plan is 15 euros per month and can only be contracted online from this link.
  • The yu Mobile Rate It has 50 GB of data in Spain and the same data when travelling to any of the countries covered by its roaming service, such as the European Union, the UK and the United States. In this case, the cost is 17 euros per month.
  • The Basic Unlimited Rate It has unlimited data within our borders and a maximum of 30Gb included in roaming. If this volume is exceeded, the cost is 1.88 euros for each gigabyte exceeded. The cost is 28.10 euros per month. Although there is currently an offer that reduces the amount by two euros if we sign up online.
  • Finally, there is the Unlimited Mobile Rate Max. In this case, the price is 37.10 euros per month and we can also get it two euros cheaper if we sign up online. In Spain, it has data included with the maximum speed and also offers 40 GB of roaming. Once this amount is exceeded, we will have to pay 1.88 euros for each gigabyte consumed.

Therefore, among all those mentioned, the best option is Yu Móvil, which offers us up to 50 Gb to consume abroad whenever we need it at a price that is around 17 euros per month. Since there is no permanence, we can always change our rate once we return to Spain, and even change our operator.
