Telefónica does not want its O2 customers to become jealous of Movistar customers and is preparing a new television offer. The low-cost operator of the telecommunications company will soon offer hundreds of channels and even Netflix for only 9.99 euros per month.

The ‘O2 TV’ package will bring more than 130 channels in High Definition (HD) and will offer personalised recommendations and convenience features. This alternative to cable and satellite TV will convince those looking for an affordable option to watch more than just DTT on TV.

In addition, the operator will provide a package with Netflix, under the name of ‘O2 TV XL’, which only costs 9.99 euros more per month for the first year (afterwards it costs 12.99 euros per month). There will also be other packages, as there has been talk of ‘O2 TV M’, ‘O2 TV L’ and ‘O2 TV XL’. The first two will be free for the first month and can be cancelled at any time, with no commitment to stay.

O2’s TV offering will be launched first in Germany on 25 September, but we are hopeful that it will sooner or later also reach Spain, given its wide range of features and the availability of Netflix at such a good price. For now, it is known that German plans will include three free months of the RTL+ Premium channel.

Advantages of O2 TV

With the end of cable TV in many households, consumers are looking for a cheap alternative to watch TV channels and streaming content. The operator wants to offer an option with a good price-performance ratio. In addition to the possibility of a cheap Netflix subscription and 130 HD channels, O2 TV offers countless features that are worthwhile and that make German O2 customers a little jealous.

For example, they have on-demand offerings, with new premium media libraries. That means O2 TV users will be able to rent blockbusters and even new releases that are still in cinemas through a video store that they will have enabled.

There will also be the option to create different profiles (up to five accounts). Not all family members like the same things, so this will be ideal for O2 to provide personalized and individualized recommendations. This way, the TV service’s algorithm won’t get confused with everyone’s interests.

Another benefit of O2 TV is that customers can pause and restart programmes on linear channels. If they turn on the TV with an episode already playing or need to stop for a while to make a meal, they won’t have any problems. As if that weren’t enough, the operator’s television service provides a memory with up to 100 hours of recording, so that customers can make sure they don’t miss out on new episodes of their favourite series if they don’t have time to watch it right away.

In Spain you can get Movistar Plus+ on O2

Although it is not close to the new offer from German O2 TV, Spaniards can take advantage of Movistar Plus+ if we are O2 customers. For months, Movistar has allowed users to sign up for its streaming platform without having to be a customer. However, it is cheaper to take advantage of the offers from Telefónica operators.

Users of the telecommunications company’s low-cost brand can contract the convergent rate of Fiber 1 GB + Mobile 200 GB and add Movistar Plus+This plan only costs 50 euros, which, considering everything it offers, is not bad at all.
