MasOrange plans to follow in Telefónica’s footsteps by opening its television platform to anyone, even if they are not a fibre or mobile customer. According to ADSLZone’s exclusive information, Orange TV would become an independent OTT that would include pay channels, some football matches and various incentives so that anyone can subscribe to it.

In July 2023, it was confirmed that Movistar Plus+ would become an OTT for any customer, regardless of the operator they had contracted. This platform gave access to the essential package of channels, as well as football matches, film premieres and successful series. Its current price is 9.99 euros per month, although during the launch it was slightly higher.

The subscription includes two simultaneous reproductions, in the same or different location; allowing you to recover what has been broadcast in the last seven days and schedule recordings. Each week it offers the M+ match of LALIGA EA SPORTS, the best Champions and Premier League match and the three best LALIGA HYPERMOTION matches of each day. In addition to this we have the big events of Tennis: Grand Slams and Masters 1000, the best basketball: NBA, Euroleague and Endesa League and padel tennis, Copa del Rey football, Golf and rugby.

In terms of series, it has quality original series together with a careful selection of the best international series. In terms of films, we have a new release every day and a catalogue with more than 700 films. Finally, through an exclusive agreement with BBC Earth, they broadcast the best documentaries on science, nature and climate change. All this is complemented by more than 80 pay channels.

What will Orange TV be like for everyone?

At the moment, there are few details regarding the new MasOrange television platform for anyone. We know that it can be contracted with any operator, since it will only require Internet access to be able to view it. We do not have information about simultaneous users, but it should have at least two to match the advantage of Movistar Plus+.

With regard to content, things are a little simpler: it will have dozens of pay-TV channels (presumably the basic package currently offered), to which it will add some football matches and other incentives to make its offer attractive.

With this move, MasOrange will try to counter Telefónica’s move with the launch of Movistar Plus+ to the whole world. As far as we have been able to find out, this product is working well, but slowly growing in customers. As a personal opinion, I think that having the same name for both miMovistar customers and customers of any operator does not help.
