Multimedia software has gained importance in our equipment over time. Kodi is one of those programs that could be considered essential if we use the PC to play videos, music, or watch online television channels.

Here we find an open source application that acts as a multimedia center and has been with us for many years. Hence the trust it has earned among millions of users around the world. One of the secrets of its success is the work behind the software that we are talking about. Its top managers do not stop working and improving Kodi to offer new versions that are increasingly more advanced and in line with the current times.

In these same lines we are going to focus on the version that will arrive in a few weeks, or months, we are referring to Kodi 22. We tell you all this because its top managers are working on a function that will be extremely useful for the majority. Surely many of you already know firsthand that this is software that has multiple functions and integrated tools. In addition, we always have the possibility of adding certain add-ons to improve your user experience and functionality.

Well, surely many will be happy to know that the next version of the application will be capable of erasing, helping us save space on hard drives. Basically, it will put at our fingertips the possibility of automatically deleting video recordings once we have seen them.

And we could say that right now the team behind the development of Kodi is working hard on the next generation of its very popular software.

This is how we will save hard drive in Kodi 22

Admittedly, it will be a while before we see the first version of the Kodi 22 branch, but we have a good idea of some of its new features and improvements. We are telling you all this right now because one of the features that will arrive in the future version of the software will be a highly requested function. Basically it will allow us to have Kodi’s PVR & Live TV function automatically delete recordings once they have been viewed.

Not surprisingly, this will free up valuable hard drive space. This feature will, of course, be optional and we will have the possibility of activating it manually. All we have to do is go to the Settings / PVR and Live TV / Recording menu option. Here the program in the next version will add a new button called Delete after viewing. We just need to activate the feature to be able to automatically free up disk space in the future.

It is also worth knowing that in addition to deactivating or activating the tool as such, we can also set the function to ask us before running. Thus, depending on the content or recording that is going to be deleted, we can choose what interests us most in each case. The only drawback we can find here is if we are going to play those recordings unattended or if we simply fall asleep.

We run the risk of these multimedia components being automatically deleted without us having actually seen them, even if the multimedia center has played them.
