Prime Video throws one of its best series down the toilet

Sad. Prime Video is going to get rid of one of its best series and, practically, you could say that they are throwing it down the toilet without much consideration. This is one of the latest dramas suffered in the entertainment sector that has left fans with a very bad taste in their mouths. Of course, the conclusion to all this could have been even worse.

Prime Video has had irregular productions for a few years. Some hit very hard and others hit just as hard after which they end up cancelled. Many others end up in that limbo in which it is not known if the series has been canceled or if we will ever see it again. So when a series works, it’s a shame when it ends suddenly for reasons unrelated to the audience. And this is what is going to happen with Good Omens, better known in English as Good Omens, a series that has triumphed among users subscribed to Prime Video.

fall to hell

Good Omens is a series based on a novel by the wonderful and deceased Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, an author who has also triumphed in his field over the years. For some, the collaboration was a dream. And the series, in which Gaiman has actively participated, has had two seasons that have been solid and hilarious. Unfortunately, its third season is not going to be what one might have expected. And the reason is Gaiman’s fall into hell. The author, who has recently been denounced for having harassed several women, has been canceled more than the series itself.

When the allegations were discovered and the world fell on Gaiman to make him pay for the crimes he had committed, the series entered a difficult situation. Production was stopped and, no matter how much the author distanced himself from it, it was obvious that Amazon had a problem on its hands. In the end, although they have not completely canceled it, they have looked for an elegant solution to the situation with which they will try to please everyone. But it is obvious that they have thrown the series in the trash.

And it is a shame, especially for the memory of Pratchett, who was one of the most respected British writers of his generation and who does not deserve to have his legend linked to that of Gaiman. It is also a shame that, although the author has separated from the production, in the credits of the last season he will still be credited for the different works he has done in the adaptation (so possibly he had not been as far away as he thought). said).

What will the third season be like?

The first two seasons had six intense episodes, diabolically fun and with those contrasts and surrealism that were so particular in the works written by Terry Pratchett. The two protagonists, angel and demon, played by the fantastic Michael Sheen and David Tennant, quickly got the audience into their pockets with performances full of charm and madness. Unfortunately, although the story would have given more, this final season will only have one episode.

It is the way in which Amazon wants this Prime Video title to pass away as soon as possible. Right now, it is problematic to have a Gaiman production involved considering that complaints have not stopped appearing that continue to increase the author’s bad image. Although what happened still remains to be clarified, the testimonies and the way in which certain patterns are repeated suggest that the author is not exactly free of sin. But, for many fans, the ideal would have been for the production team to find a way to continue without Gaiman involved.

In order not to cancel the series and leave it on the air, something that would not be fair to the fans and would be an even greater waste, that single episode of the third and final season will be 90 minutes. It will, therefore, be something more like a movie than an episode, but it still knows little. It’s a shame it all ended like this.
