The war for the tightest prices after the latest movements in the market does not scare the blue operator. During these months, Vodafone and Digi have gone on the attack by lowering prices and betting on an even more low-cost strategy. However, Movistar trusts its current offer and assures that they are among “the winners” in the portability battle.
Telefónica’s data is clear, in the last three months it has managed to accumulate 11,000 clients on convergent rates, 34,000 fiber accesses, 119,000 on mobile and 49,000 on television. Therefore, despite the intensity of these two rival operators, the Spanish operator sees these results as quite positive.
Movistar continues to bet on its offer
Despite the intensity that has been experienced in recent months within the commercial offer, the CEO of Telefónica, Ángel Vilá, points out that the market is still segmented and rational. No matter how much portability has been reduced within the telecom sector, Movistar is among “those winners.” Even after the great commotion that has occurred after the last price reduction among the cheap operators, Digi being the one in the lead.
In any case, Telefónica is confident in its current business model based on a “rational approach” and a series of services with “first-class value and infrastructure.” This is due to the data that has been given, for example, the abandonment rate is 0.8%, being a minimum figure for the company during the decade. And we must not forget to mention the average profitability per user (ARPU) of the operator, which is 90.2 euros.
Vodafone and Digi put more pressure
When Vodafone became part of Zegona, things began to change in the red operator. From new combined plans, only fiber and mobile, to the arrival of a rate configurator so that customers can customize the option they want to contract in their own way. In addition, its strategy has also been based on offering more promotions and lowering prices. And not only in Vodafone, but also in its second brand Lowi. Without a doubt, with the idea of evolving and attracting new users.
In the case of Digi, there is no doubt that it is at the forefront of low cost rates. For this reason it has become the favorite option of many. But, that has not made the cheap operator give up. Relatively recently, another cheap fiber-only rate was launched with 300 Mbps for only 10 euros per month. And it is not the only surprising plan in this operator’s catalog. What is clear is that their rates compete, a lot, against the rest of the telephone companies.
However, despite all this, Telefónica remains firm with the current offer for its Movistar brand, with football being one of the great attractions of its catalog. In addition, we must also take into account its Movistar Plus+ television platform which can be accessed for 9.99 euros, regardless of the operator you have contracted. In short, the trade war is not over and is more red hot than ever.
