There is no doubt that one of the big drawbacks we encounter when playing with our PC is the consumption of resources. Right now the popular platform Steam wants to reduce it, so it is taking action on the matter.
You already know that this is one of the best-known PC video game stores used throughout the globe. In addition, the official application offers us multiple functions and tools to have the best experience in our leisure moments.
Valve, the company behind all of this, constantly releases new updates improving these tools and adding new ones. Now we are going to tell you about a new function that has just arrived and that will help us record games with minimal consumption. We tell you all this because a new recording functionality has just been launched on Steam that will allow us to capture game clips using a minimum of computer resources.
Specifically, we are referring to what is known as Steam Game Recording, which has been talked about for some time as another alternative to using third-party game capture software. Well, right now that feature is being launched in beta. This means that it is available for all Steam games and allows us to create and share game clips with very low resource consumption.
It must be taken into account that this tool runs in the background so that we do not have problems when starting it immediately. The function as such consists of a set of integrated functions that allows us to capture games using background recording.
Steam Game Recording uses AMD and NVIDIA graphics
What Vale aims to do with this new Steam function is to ensure the captures of our games as quickly as possible and without CPU or RAM consumption. To do this, it provides us with quick access keys. In addition, we will have the possibility of adjusting and customizing the duration and quality levels for each game.
It is also important to know that through the Steam Overlay function, we will have a replay option. This allows us to quickly rewind and scroll through the most recent recordings. It’s true that some games already come with support for timeline markers and events. This is used in recording important events such as deaths in games.
One of the big concerns of players in this regard is how this feature affects performance during the game. But Valve wanted to make it clear. He assures that the new function has been designed with the aim of consuming the least possible amount of computer resources during the game. This is achieved because it takes advantage of NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards to eliminate most of the CPU and RAM consumption.
But of course, when Steam Game Recording is run on systems without those graphics cards, the CPU is used to create the recordings, which can cause a noticeable impact on performance.
Finally, we will tell you that we have the possibility of exporting these recordings as MP4 files, or sending them to another device. We can even share them with mobile devices using a QR code or create a temporary link.
