Twitter is a well-known social network that has been with us for many years and is used by millions of users around the world. But despite its popularity, this platform is surrounded by some controversy, mainly due to the improper use that many make of it.
The main objective of Twitter is that subscribed users can communicate with the rest through short text messages. Over time, other types of content have been included that we can use in our posts or tweets. Likewise, we have a multitude of operating modes with which to interact with other Twitter users directly, or with several at the same time. Precisely communication, as he says in real time, is one of the secrets of the success of this social network.
It is true that most users make good use of the platform, either to share their own experiences, help others, publish knowledge or simply spread news. However, many others are dedicated to expressing or sending hateful messages and trying to harm other users. In fact, this is one of the main scourges with which this social network has been burdened for years.
And for many functions that are simply in order to try to improve the experience of those who make good use of the online service, they do not succeed at all. Hence, it is the Twitter users themselves who on certain occasions have to take certain measures. All in order to get rid of annoying users or trolls as they are known.
When to use either of these two features on Twitter
In fact, right now we have at our disposal two very simple functions to use to get rid of these trolls that we mentioned. On the one hand, we find the option to silence one or several users that are annoying to us. Likewise, we can also block these, all depending on the needs of each case. What is certain is that before all this we should know what the difference is between both movements on Twitter.
First we find the option to silence a certain user of the social platform. To be clear, what we really achieve with this movement is that the tweets and retweets made by the muted user will not appear on our wall from that moment on. In this way and if for some reason we are not interested in their contents in the least, we will not see them again. We must also take into consideration that from that moment on we will not receive your notifications or messages.
At the same time, in the event that we want to go a step further in the social network, we also have the possibility of blocking users of it. The main difference that we find here is that when we only silence a user on Twitter, he will be able to see those entries that we publish. He will also be able to interact with our publications such as retweet them, although we will not see that.
This way we achieve that the muted user does not know this change that we have made on it. However, when we have blocked him, he will not be able to locate us again on the social platform, so he will be aware of said block and will not be able to interact with our entries. Let’s say that it is a more radical measure when it comes to getting rid of those with whom we do not want to collaborate in the social network, for one reason or another.
