Learn the differences between an XBox One and an XBox One S, so you can learn which one is the best for you to buy, as in the case of the differences between an iPhone XS and iPhone XR.

As the years go by, devices evolve to be better and better, it happens with televisions, mobile phones and even consoles.

Every time a new video game console is released, it generates among users the desire to know what is new and what is different from its old version.

In this case we will talk about the Xbox One that since it was released, became the favorite of users, but was discontinued when the Xbox One S came out.

Differences between an XBox One and an XBox One S

Without a doubt, both video game consoles are very good and basically have the same characteristics, or at least they are similar. Don’t worry, Sony and PlayStation lovers also have a similar question, but this one is based on the differences between the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro console and which one is the best to buy.

Next I will show you what the differences are between an XBox One and an XBox One S in case you still do not know which one to choose.

The characteristics

The Xbox One S has several extra features that the original Xbox One doesn’t. For starters, it supports 4K ULTRA HD and 4K BLU-RAY video playback.

There are some caveats with this 4K support. The One S supports 4K gaming, of course you’ll need a 4K TV to see the video upscaling.

While the Xbox One offers a Blu-ray player, it doesn’t support 4K-quality discs.

Design

The most noticeable difference between the Xbox One and the Xbox One S is the design. First of all, Microsoft had ditched the black for a beautiful white shell.

But more impressive than the new color scheme is that the Xbox One S is 40% smaller than the Xbox One. But it gets better.

Microsoft has managed to fit the Xbox One’s external power source inside the Xbox One S now.

So all you have is a thin cable running from the Xbox One S to your outlet, there’s no bulky power source to trip over anymore.

Another big design difference between the two units is that the Xbox One S can now also stand upright.

performance

One of the differences between an XBox One and an XBox One S is that the One S offers better gaming visuals, as long as you have an HDR-ready TV, and can even go up to 4K if needed.

Inside, you also get advanced audio that uses Dolby’s Atmos and DTS:X audio for a truly intensive gaming experience.

But the Xbox One S is also a very competent media player, it can handle 4K output for Netflix and Amazon Prime, even as a UHD Blu-Ray player.

Add to the list of amazing Xbox game titles you can play on it, and you’re looking at one of the best value for money gaming consoles on the market.

The command or controller

The Xbox One S also has a new controller that has a new grip texture on the underside of the surface.

So it’s harder for it to “slip” out of your hands and crash into your TV when you lose a big game.

The new controller also works on Windows 10 computers, phones and tablets via Bluetooth and has twice the range of the old one.

Which of the two to buy?

After knowing the differences between an XBox One and an XBox One S, personally I prefer the Xbox One S version.

The Xbox One S is an upgraded version of its predecessor Xbox One. Even though the One S has better features, it’s up to you to decide which one is best for you.

Remember that one of the most outstanding advantages of the One S to the original One version is the display section.

So if you don’t have a TV that supports the features offered by the Xbox One S, it’s not worth buying the Xbox One S.
