The telecommunications operator DIGI continues to grow in Spaniards who hire its services. According to a new press release, the company states that it has gained more than 546,000 customers in the first quarter of 2024. Its report details that this amount represents an increase of 32% compared to the same period last year.
DIGI is a Romanian mobile phone and Internet provider, but its Spanish division was created in 2008. Since then, the company has grown to more than 7,027,000 users, according to the count made up to March. In their statement, they explain that 546,000 customers have contracted their services in the first three months of 2024, thus demonstrating the interest of Spaniards in their rates.
Specifically, DIGI says that they had more than 5 million customers who have switched to their mobile telephone rates, more than 1.5 million who have done the same with their fiber, and more than 496,000 who have contracted landline telephony. To these, we must add the 343,000, 152,000 and 51,000 new clients respectively. These latest data correspond to the end of March, so the total figure will have grown more in April.
The data behind DIGI’s new customers
In a count they did at DIGI more than a month ago, the firm said that they had reached 355,700 ports in the first quarter of the year. That is, the majority of new customers asked to keep their mobile and landline telephone lines despite the change of operator. However, the new report confirms that there were more users who contracted their services without any portability involved.
DIGI has calculated that the new contracts have resulted in the brand billing 178 million euros in Spain in the first quarter. If compared with the data obtained in the same period of 2023, the firm has pocketed 24% more. For its part, if we talk about the gross profit (Ebitda) for the first three months of 2024, DIGI states that they have obtained more than 40 million. In this case, it is 46% more compared to the same time last year.
DIGI improvements in 2024
The operator has clarified that they have not remained with their arms crossed. While the number of clients and income grew until March, DIGI has invested more than 75 million euros. In this first quarter of the year, they have opted above all for their plan to deploy cutting-edge ultra-fast fiber optic networks.
They also highlight DIGI’s 5G service, which is finally being deployed in Spain. With this mobile technology, the telecommunications company hopes that its customers can enjoy maximum speed and quality on their phones.
The best thing is that the fifth generation of mobile coverage is arriving without raising rates, so this connection improvement could be said to be free. The DIGI firm is clearly committed to offering its products and services at competitive prices and quality and it seems that they do not want this to change, at least in the short term.
In addition, DIGI has hired more than 7,750 direct employees and has more than 4,000 points of sale in Spain. According to their press release, of those hired within our border, more than 250 professionals arrived in the first three months of 2024. In this way, they guarantee that the Spanish customer experience is good enough.
