The telecommunications operator DIGI has ended the first quarter of 2024 with a total of 355,700 ports (more than 208,500 net mobile telephony). As reported by the Spanish company in a press release, this figure is an increase of 22% (26% in the net figure) compared to what they achieved during the first three months of last year.
Portability is the process followed to change mobile or landline operators without having to change the telephone number. That DIGI has achieved so many in the first quarter is good news for the company, which ensures that it already has the trust of more than 6.48 million customers.
In March alone, DIGI clarifies that they have achieved more than 115,100 ported mobile and landline lines of the 355,700 they have created in the first three months. According to the telecommunications firm, this last month has been the third consecutive month in which they have managed to reach 100 ports.
Of the more than 6.48 million customers, DIGI accounts for 4.66 million who have contracted its mobile telephone services, more than 1.37 million opt for its fiber and more than 445,000 have switched to its fixed telephony.
DIGI’s 5G
One of the reasons why the operator believes that its proposal is currently one of the best on the market is that they are the result of listening to its customers. In the press release, DIGI points out that they offer competitive and quality products and services “with the best price and without fine print.”
They do it without falling behind in the latest technology. In 2024, the brand is rolling out its 5G coverage service. With it, they intend for their clients to enjoy maximum speed and quality on their mobile phone, as long as they have a model compatible with this type of connection.
DIGI Fiber Deployment
Telefónica continues to be the leading company in the deployment of the fiber network for the Internet in the majority of the Spanish territory. However, that doesn’t stop DIGI from striving to also offer great fiber coverage within its own borders.
Since the company began to take off in 2008, they have invested more than 1,000 million euros to launch a fiber network that they hope will be the fastest in Spain. Regarding this, it seems that they are on the right track, since DIGI has been awarded for the third consecutive year with the award for ‘The fastest fiber network in Spain’, according to the Ookla Speedtest Awards.
The reason why Ookla Speedtest Awards, the largest platform in the world for speed tests, considers DIGI fiber the fastest in Spain is the navigation experience they offer. With it, customers can enjoy speeds of up to 10 Gbps with PRO-DIGI fiber.
After almost 16 years of hard work, DIGI fiber is increasingly found in more and more places. Today, it reaches approximately 8.5 million Spanish homes. However, it must be clarified that its coverage is concentrated in the main urban centers of the country.
DIGI generates employment
Furthermore, DIGI’s commitment to fiber and its growth in Spain has led to employment in the Iberian country. As stated in the press release, they ended 2023 with more than 7,500 direct and permanent employees, of which 1,500 of them had been hired that same year.
They also have more than 4,000 points of sale in Spanish territory. These are in addition to its customer service in Italy and Romania (where it has television service) and, very soon, its activity will extend to Belgium and Portugal.
