The telecommunications market statistics for the month of October have already been released and we can see that, once again, Digi is the leader. The operator, however, is enjoying a success that both Finetwork and Movistar have also had the opportunity to experience, entities that end up with a positive balance in portability.
A few days ago we were talking about how well Digi was doing in this year 2024 and how it was following a path full of success. Now we can say that, according to the data released by El Economista, Digi has also had an enviable month of October. According to this information, the operator takes the lead in terms of portability and continues to lead with authority.
Digi, Finetwork and Movistar
These are the three operators that have ended the month with a positive balance and that achieved the best results of October. For their part, MasOrange and Vodafone closed the month negatively, although Vodafone’s data is not, in reality, so negative, since it reflects the lines that have become independent in Finetwork and that were previously counted together.
With Digi and Finetwork at the helm, it can be seen that the low-cost market continues to be the main attraction for users, who are going for the new and aggressive rates that these operators have launched in recent months. The positive balance with which Digi has ended the month is established at a total of 55,300 lines, while Finetwork has ended the month with a positive balance of 33,300 mobile accesses.
If we talk about Movistar, whose figures also include those of O2, which is its own way of competing in the low cost segment, we find a positive balance in October of 11,500 lines. It is not a negative data, although the amount has been lower than what they obtained in September. With new offerings from Digi and Finetwork taking off, it may not be long before we see new offerings from O2 for a boost in customer acquisition.
This is how MasOrange and Vodafone have remained
The results of these operators have not been so positive. It is true that both, yes, are still in a phase of change with respect to their new status. At MasOrange they are adjusting to their new identity, while at Vodafone it must be said that it is recovering with great projection. It is very possible that both entities, in the coming months, will improve their results significantly. For now, MasOrange has signed a negative balance in portability of 57,800 customers, including in this figure the loss of 21,600 lines corresponding to Orange, 30,300 lines from Yoigo and MásMóvil and, finally, 5,900 lines that were from Euskaltel.
Vodafone data indicates that the operator has lost 37,600 lines in October. But we must not forget that 24,000 lines are the accounting for the migration of Finetwork, an operator that now operates with an independent NRN. If we take this into account and assess that this number of lines simply corresponds to the effect that occurs in the regulation of portability accounts, the result would indicate that Vodafone would have lost only 13,600 mobile lines in October. Knowing that Vodafone is progressing at a very good pace, it is most likely that they will turn their portability figures into the positive sooner than you might imagine.
According to the source we have used for the news, a total of 11,100 lines that Movistar has added to its accounts corresponded to Vodafone customers. For its part, Digi has captured a large part of MásMóvil’s user volume, taking 20,800 clients from this operator.
As you can see, the telecommunications market is on fire and the constant promotions and new offers launched by operators are obviously going to keep it that way for a long time.
