Disney+ launches the artillery and presents the trailer for a new Star Wars series that will arrive in December and that has all the earmarks of revolutionizing the franchise. After the last setbacks of the saga, with this new production that is notably inspired by Steven Spielberg titles, they could regain the trust of all fans.

It’s been a while since Star Wars managed to excite fans, as the franchise has had some recent series that haven’t quite caught on. And even the series that should have been spectacular, like Obi-Wan, remained in a I want and I can’t. Therefore, there is now hope that Disney Plus+ will get a premiere. For now, it seems that they can have it in their hands. It will be titled Star Wars: Lost Crew or Star Wars: Skeleton Crew in its original version.

The inspiration in Spielberg strong in you is

The style of the Star Wars universe changes again and, this time, it presents us with a group of young people who will go through one of those adventures that they will live while they are going from childhood to a more adult age. It is the typical story that Spielberg has used so much and that we can see in legendary works like The Goonies. Those young people who start out inexperienced and with little ability to react will possibly end up changing a lot and maturing throughout their adventure. At the end of the day, they will have to deal with finding themselves lost in the galaxy and the need to return home no matter what.

These kids known as Wim, Fern, KB and Neel, make an important discovery on their planet and then get lost in another galaxy they don’t know about. Fortunately for them, they will come across a man who is capable of using force and who will agree to accompany them on their way home. However, on their way they will encounter all kinds of dangers and a multitude of space pirates who don’t exactly have good intentions.

For the production, they have been inspired by different films, but especially by The Goonies. In reality, it is the way in which, years ago, they proposed the filming of the project: “a Star Wars series inspired by The Goonies.” In this regard, they comment that they have never thought that The Goonies was a film for children, but rather they have always considered it a film starring children, but aimed at all audiences. And that is more than proven in view of the fact that the revised The Goonies continues to provide as much fun today as when it was released decades ago.

A cast that will leave its mark

It must be said that, for Star Wars: Lost Crew, we have managed to work with a team full of familiar faces that combine with the talent of the young leading actors. The best-known face is that of Jude Law, the famous actor who was linked to the Star Wars series years ago and who was one of the first to attract attention. Law’s charm helps his character come on strong from the get-go. Along with him, we will hear the voice of the funny Nick Frost, one of the regular faces of British comedies who will give life to the droid SM 33.

And, among other signings that have been made for the series, we are also curious to see Jaleel White, who will play one of the pirates and whom you may remember because he was Steve Urkel in the series Things from Home. If you are curious, you can see him in the trailer, you will identify him because he is wearing a technological patch on one of his eyes. For their part, the young protagonists will be played by Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith and Ryan Kiera Armstrong.

If you’re wondering where this series will fit, the time period in which it will take place will be the same as where The Mandalorian and Ahsoka take place, which surely opens up more than one possibility so that their characters are not limited to appearing only in this new production. All this, for the moment, sounds very good. The premiere will take place on December 3 on Disney+ with a double episode.
