We are generally used to using the messaging application par excellence, WhatsApp, from the mobile phone. But thanks to its huge market penetration, over the years the platform has spread to other devices. For example, now we can access the official client that we downloaded from the Windows store.
As you can imagine, this allows us to synchronize all our chats and messages from the messaging application account. Thus, once we have sat down in front of the desktop computer, we can put the mobile aside and interact with our contacts comfortably from the keyboard and the PC screen. Both devices will automatically synchronize in case we change the use between them.
For all this, it is enough that we download the official WhatsApp application from the Windows store, the Microsoft Store.
In addition to the comfort as such when working with a physical keyboard and a large screen, this client presents us with some interesting functions. Obviously, most of the features available in the mobile application can be found here. But for example, in the Windows application we will have the possibility of applying filters to locate the chats that really interest us first. And it is that it can be the case that in our account we have hundreds of active chats at that moment.
This means that when it comes to locating a specific one that interests us, it takes us longer than we would like. That is precisely where the filters that we are talking about come into play and that we will see how to establish them below.
Sort your WhatsApp chats on Windows with filters
By default, when we start the official WhatsApp client on our Windows-based computer, we find that the most recently used chats are in the first place. This means that by default the application itself places these elements based on their most recent use. However, it may be the case, something quite common, in which we want to locate other older chats.
If we have a couple of dozen of these in our account, we will have no problem when it comes to placing ourselves in any other. But it must be taken into account that there are users who can even work with hundreds of chats simultaneously, or at least need them. Therefore, when it comes to locating one of these that we have not opened for a while, it can become a complicated task. Hence precisely the usefulness of the filters that this WhatsApp application for Windows offers us.
These will allow us to reorder these stored chats based on a series of parameters that we will talk about below. The filters that we are going to be able to use in this application are the following and that will serve as the default sorting method for WhatsApp chats:
- Not read.
- Contacts.
- Contacts not saved.
- groups.
We access these filters from the button with 3 horizontal points that is located at the top of the main interface of the application. This means that the chats available in our messaging application account will be ordered based on the choice we have made. For example, if we want to find a chat from a contact that we don’t have saved in our calendar, all we have to do is click on Unsaved Contacts. We can also order these elements by placing the groups in which we are added first.
