For a large number of users who have a huge library of ebooks, Caliber is a perfectly valid solution to manage all this content. However, equally for many, the user interface that the program offers us is not the most appropriate.

Here we are talking about an open source program that has been around for a good number of years and that is responsible for offering us everything we need for our electronic books. We have all kinds of functions that will be very helpful for these tasks and with this specific content. In fact, from here we will have the possibility of creating personal libraries to which we add the corresponding books. And not only that, since we can also read them from here, edit them, modify their metadata, etc.

There is no doubt that we are facing one of the most interesting proposals when it comes to carrying out this type of task. But while functionally Caliber It is a program that we can get few drawbacks from, at the interface level for many it is a proposal that still has to be improved. It is true that the default aspect presented by this application may not be too adapted to the current times. With everything and with this we must bear in mind that the program as such presents us with some interesting customization functions.

How could it be otherwise, this will allow us to adapt this user interface a little more to our needs or tastes. This is the case that we want to talk about below, focusing on the columns that are a very important part of the default appearance and operation of Calibre.

Customize caliber columns to enhance its interface

First of all, we must know that these columns to which we refer are created by the program itself to catalog important fields. These correspond to our electronic books and refer to elements such as the title, author, date, tags, size, publisher, etc. In fact, we could say that these elements occupy practically the entirety of the program’s main interface. Therefore, being able to customize and manage them will be extremely important to improve the interface here.

Thus, in order to carry out these customization tasks that we are mentioning, we only have to click with the right button on the header of the column that we want to manage. At that moment, a series of interesting options will appear on the screen to be able to customize these important elements. To give you an idea of what we are talking about, the first thing we find here is the possibility of hiding that column.

gauge columns

But that’s not all, since at the same time we can automatically adjust its size depending on the content it shows us. Another very interesting function is the possibility of aligning that same content, changing the style of the font independently, or shrinking it directly. Of course, in the event that we make a change that we do not like, or several, we can always return it to its original state.

To finish, it is also worth knowing that from that same drop-down list we will have the possibility of creating our own custom columns. This is one of the ways to adapt the aspect of Caliber a little more to our needs or tastes.
