Netflix is an American entertainment platform that premiered on August 29, 1997; that over the years has evolved and improved for its users. Nowadays we can watch series and movies through our devices, but you should keep in mind that not all of them are compatible.
It should be noted that today we can easily download Netflix from any device or operating system. However, it does have requirements for Windows or Mac computers, including tablets and phones with which you will be able to watch Netflix.
How to prevent my computer from sleeping when watching Netflix?
By not using our PC for a certain time we are wasting electricity which would be a big problem for our computer. That is why Windows has the option to suspend the computer after a certain period of inactivity. In some cases, web pages such as Netflix require more resource consumption and performance.
You could start by scanning your computer for viruses using the antivirus you frequently use on your PC. If you use Windows 10 you will need to create a good power plan, you will have to right click on the taskbar this will open a menu that will show the power options.
We could also edit one of the power plans already configured by Windows, but it would be better to create our own plan. To prevent our screen from turning off every certain time of inactivity, you will find a drop-down menu where you will select “Never” although you must bear in mind that this option will consume more energy.
If you use a laptop and apply one of these settings you should be aware that it will drain the battery faster. To create our personalized power plan for our PC we will have four options, which will allow us to edit how many minutes or hours it can be turned off to enter a sleep state.
If you use Mac you will not need external software, just go to the system preferences and look for the “Economizer” option. In the options we will select “Computer sleep” changing it to the “Never” option if you use a monitor connected to your Mac apply that option, restart and you can enjoy your movies.

How to prevent my PC from going to sleep when watching Netflix?
Netflix asks for certain requirements to be able to use it through a PC or Laptop, your computer must have a compatibility system with Netflix’s HTML5 and Silverlight player. Not everyone knows that Netflix asks for space and processor requirements on certain types of computers or laptops.
If you are using a graphics processing unit with an integrated Intel GPU you will need a 22.XX.XX series graphics driver, version 4708. For Windows 10 CPU: 7th generation Core processor (i3, i5 or i7 models of the 7xxx or i 7yxx series ) in order to have better performance when using Netflix.
If your graphics processor has a dedicated NVIDIA GPU you will need to have a graphics driver: 387.68 (23.21.13.8768) or higher. Remember that to use it through Windows 10 you must have at least 3GB of RAM in your memory, I recommend that the device must be compatible with Microsoft PlayReady 3.0 or higher.
In order for us to watch Netflix in Ultra HD you will need a Windows 10 computer that has all the latest updates. Our PC will need to have a latest generation Intel Core CPU or NVIDIA GPU and a 4k or 60hz compatible monitor each connected monitor must be fully compatible.
To watch Netflix on your MAC computer, your system must have macOS Catalina 10.15.4 or later and the Safari browser. If you use an adapter or a cable, they must be compatible with Netflix HDR, if you do not know that your MAC does not have one of these requirements, you can contact the manufacturer.
Netflix has changed in recent years but it is still one of the best platforms to watch movies or series and we can even watch movies without an internet connection, as well as download episodes of series and movies. In the same way we can enjoy it through our computer.
