Steps to retrieve your account password on the DIAN page
First of all, we must remind you that in order to update the RUT, you must have your account password on the DIAN page at hand. Otherwise it will not be possible to update the RUT online.
That is why in this first part of the post we will explain step by step the entire process that you must complete to recover your password on the portal of the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs. Make sure before starting this process if you are using public Wi-Fi, protect your personal data.
- To start you have to enter the official page of the DIAN.
- Then you must click on the “I have forgotten my password” option, which is located just below the “Enter” button.
- Now a new window will appear with a series of mandatory fields that you must fill in to complete the first stage of the key recovery process.
- Then you must check the inbox of the email account associated with the DIAN platform. Once there, you have to open an email containing the instructions you must follow to recover your password.
- Then you just have to select the type of document to verify along with its associated number.
- Finally, click on the “Recover key” option.
- In this way you will have satisfactorily completed the entire process necessary to recover your password on the DIAN page.

Update my RUT via online
Next, in this section we will explain in detail all the steps you must follow so that you can update the Single Tax Registry from the comfort of your home, either through your computer or mobile device. You simply have to read the following instructions carefully to complete the procedure in a few minutes.
- First of all, you have to go to the official website of the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs, from your preferred web browser.
- Once you have entered the official page, you have to log in. To do this, click on the option “Registered users” and then in the tab “Login on behalf of” you must select the option “On your own name”
- To continue you have to click on the “RUT Update” icon.
- Then click on the “Continue” button to start the respective update.
- Next, select the sheet of the form on which you need to update or modify the information
- When you have finished managing the information, click on the “Draft” button. In this way you can save the changes made and the system will also assign you a document number.
- In case you need to make changes to other sheets, then select the “Select sheet” option.
- Now, you have to click on the “Send” button and after you have finished sending data, the “Formalize” button will be enabled.
- Finally, when you see that the acknowledgment of receipt appears, we will have the option to officially generate the PDF of our new document at no cost. Once downloaded you can open and edit it on your PC.
