New panel technologies have made our Smart TVs gain in image quality in an incredible way. However, technologies such as OLED can be too fragile, leading us to think about how to clean them correctly to avoid damage.
We are going to review what the experts’ advice is to have both cleanliness and an OLED (or QD-OLED) Smart TV that still remains intact.
Tips for cleaning Smart OLED TV
Having a dirty Smart TV can not only be a modesty problem if you have visitors at home and they see marks or fingers on the screen. Beyond the “what will they say”, dirt and stains can easily accumulate on QD-OLED or OLED screens, distorting the image and preventing you from enjoying the content correctly, causing you to have paid for a screen technology that you do not yet have. You will enjoy it 100%. These stains can also cause more reflections and reduced shine.
Another of the main tips, in addition to carrying out the cleaning process with the television unplugged from the power, is that you do not spray directly on the television screen. It may drip onto the bottom or outside of the screen and cause the TV to malfunction. The recommendation is that if you use liquids, you pour them onto the cloth or chamois.
Cleaning steps
As we said before, the first step is the current. This not only reduces the risk of mixing liquids with electricity, but also favors the cleaning process itself. Because? Because it will reduce the electrostatic charge.
Before using any liquid, wipe away fine dirt with a soft, dry cloth. This will gently remove loose dust from the screen. Do this carefully and make sure you only move in one direction, to avoid scratches. The recommendation is to use a microfiber cloth here, as this cloth is specifically designed to collect dust and minimizes the possibility of scratches.
To remove fingerprints from the screen of an OLED or QD-OLED TV, you can use 70% ethanol (ethyl alcohol). It also serves to remove grease stains caused by contact with our hands. The main reason why this fat appears on the screen is perspiration. To remove these unwanted stains, spray 70% ethanol (which is easy to find at a drugstore) on another microfiber cloth. Avoid spraying it directly on the screen. Instead, spray on the microfiber cloth and wipe the surface carefully.
Then, gently wipe the surface in the same direction. Be sure to avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the surface of your TV. Remember to always use a clean microfiber cloth for best results. Don’t rush and gently cover the entire surface. Avoid paper towels, as they often leave lint behind.
Finally, let the screen air dry, without using any chamois or similar. Be patient and let the screen dry completely before doing anything else. With 70% ethanol, it should dry quickly. Avoid touching the screen again to avoid leaving new fingerprints and smudges. Ready. Your Smart TV should be shiny without fear of screen damage or scratches.
