WhatsApp is much more than an app to send messages. We can also send photos, videos, documents, voice notes and much more. However, there are times when the platform fails to play the audio and it can be frustrating. It has happened to me on several occasions and there are a few reasons why this can happen. What are the most common causes? How can we solve it?
Voice notes are a great support for the conversations we have on WhatsApp. We can’t always write text. For example, we may be doing other things and prefer to be hands-free, or we don’t want what we say to be misinterpreted. Audios are a widely used tool in the Meta instant messaging application, but there are quite common errors that usually occur.
There are quite a few of us whose audio stops in the middle of listening. Even when we try to press the button to play the voice memo again, it does not work or nothing is still heard or it is done at a lower volume than usual. The three possible solutions that we will give you in this article will surely solve the situation at its root if any of what we have mentioned happens to you.
Close the app and reopen it
The easiest solution to make the audio sound good again is to close the application and reopen it. Although it may seem like a lie, most of the time it works. This is the best thing you can do if it is a sporadic error and it is the first time it happens to you or it does not happen very often.
Generally, these problems happen when we put the mobile speaker too close to our ear. When the phone detects it through the proximity sensor, the audio may stop. Even if we move the device away again, it does not sound as it should and the way to solve it is to close it and open it again.
Update WhatsApp to the latest version
If the voice memo playback error continues even when you close and reopen the messaging platform, the problem may seem more serious. But nothing could be further from the truth. It is possibly because you do not have the latest WhatsApp update installed.
The app developers not only release new versions to add new features but also fix bugs. If WhatsApp audios generally do not play on your smartphone, try updating the app from the Google Play Store, if you have an Android, or from the App Store, if you have an iPhone. If you have an update not yet installed, you will only have to start the process and you will most likely solve the problem with voice notes.
Clear WhatsApp cache
Another reason why WhatsApp audios could have problems playing is that too much cache has accumulated. The cache memory is what the mobile uses to load all messages, photos, videos, documents and audio quickly from the application. However, when we don’t flush the cache from time to time, it ends up filling up with unnecessary files that slow down the app. Sometimes it can even cause some functions to fail for no apparent reason.
The only thing you will have to do is enter the settings or configuration of the smartphone and go to the applications section. From there, you must search for WhatsApp and click “Clear cache” or “Clear data” > “Clear cache”. This way, you will get rid of any cache-related problems that could be impacting the operation of the instant messaging platform.
