Since the iPhone 7, the iPhone has built in a Taptic Engine. That is a vibration motor that can perform precise vibrations. The iPhone has system signals, where, for example, you feel a tap when you flip a switch. Or you feel a tap when you open the app switcher. Irritating? Then it can also be done.

System signals on iPhone: what is it?
The Taptic Engine (vibration engine) is present in the iPhone 7 and newer devices. It provides feedback at various times while using iOS. If you tap a digital button on the screen or turn a switch, you will feel a short vibration to confirm this. You also get a vibration when operating some buttons in the Control Panel and Notification Center. These are not very prominent, but can be felt during use.
Disable system signals
If you prefer not to feel these vibrations, you can turn them off via the Settings app. This is how you disable the system signals:
- Open the Settings app on the iPhone.
- Go to Hearing and feeling.
- Scroll all the way down and turn off the switch for Tactile system signals.
Enabling or disabling this setting does not affect the feedback you get when pressing the home button, if you still have an iPhone with a round home button. This button cannot be physically pressed, but with vibrations it gives you the impression that you are touching something. You cannot completely switch off the vibrations, but you can determine the strength yourself.
Do you have the problem that the iPhone screen does not respond to touch, so you do not feel any vibrations at all? Then you can use the tip below to see what is going on and possibly find a solution.
