You can buy expensive iPhone holders for your desk at the store, but you can also get started yourself. There are many ways to make an inexpensive container from materials you can find at home. We have listed three DIY iPhone holders made from office supplies such as pencils, paperclips and tape.
- Paper clip
- Pencils
- Adhesive tape
#1 Paper clip iPhone holder
With this solution you have to take a large size paperclip. Unfold it and make sure the two ends of the metal are up so your iPhone doesn’t slip. For better stability, wrap a rubber band around the two ‘feet’. As you can see in the photo below, it also works with one paper clip, but two is of course more stable.
#2 Pencils as an iPhone holder
At first glance, the five pins in the photo don’t look that useful to make an iPhone holder. But once you know the trick you immediately understand what is meant. In addition to at least four pencils or pens, you will need at least three rubber bands to tie the pencils together. We have used four of them. For extra stability, add a fifth pencil or pen.
Use the pencils to make a kind of easel. It takes some experience to tie the rubber bands together in the right way, so that the whole is stable. Unfortunately, the free IKEA pencils are not suitable for this, but with somewhat longer pencils or pens you still have a suitable holder.
#3 Roll tape as an iPhone holder
A roll of adhesive tape may not initially be very suitable as an iPhone holder: the thing keeps rolling away. But things change when you attach the end of the tape to the iPhone, which also allows you to tape part of the table. You can change the viewing angle by rolling out the tape further. The most suitable for this is thick wrapping tape, because it gives you more grip and the iPhone can lean against a larger surface.
