There is no doubt that fiber is the great bet of operators in our country. First it was FTTH (fiber to the home), and now it seems that operators are betting on technology that goes one step further and seeks to expand the connection to all rooms of the home. Movistar was the first operator to bring FTTR fiber to Spain, and in its wake is MásOrange (Orange and MásMóvil), which joins the select group of companies that market this service.

With the continued expansion of fiber optics in our country, it was clear that operators would continue to explore more options based on this technology. The latest innovation is FTTR (fiber to the room), which seeks to expand coverage and provide greater connection speed in any room of your house. Well, MásOrange has just launched this service on Euskaltel.

FTTR arrives at Euskaltel

This service can ensure total coverage in practically any corner of a home without the need to install additional equipment, such as WiFi repeaters or PLC devices. But what does it consist of? As Euskaltel explains, “Euskaltel’s FTTR Fiber provides total coverage in any room because the fiber arrives without having to pull cables or make holes.” Therefore, the installation of this service is greatly facilitated.

This solution, already considered a pioneer, becomes one of the best alternatives to bring the Internet connection to all the rooms of a home. One of its strong points is that it is not necessary to carry out any type of work at home, nor pull cables, nor make holes. Basically, it is based on the installation of a thin transparent fiber cable, which is so thin that it is practically invisible. In addition, this type of cable adheres to any surface without affecting the aesthetics of the home.

Thus, operators using FTTR can connect several secondary WiFi access points spread throughout one thing. This way, a connection with guarantees is achieved, by offering more speed, quality and a more stable signal in all rooms.

What is its price?

Euskaltel customers can now contract this fiber service for 10 euros per month if they want to bring the connection to a room. On the other hand, if users want to bring fiber to more rooms, they will have to pay 5 euros more for each additional room. However, installation is completely free, although a 12-month stay is required as explained in the conditions.

And with this particular rate, Euskaltel offers WiFi 6 technology so that users can enjoy the best connectivity. As an addition, in each room where this service is installed, customers will have two Ethernet ports available to connect the device they want by cable.

The permanence requested of clients is associated with the installation costs, which are 99 euros (VAT included). So, if a user unsubscribes before the year, then he will have to pay that amount. Furthermore, the operator’s conditions explain that installation costs are not prorated. And, on the other hand, the equipment that is given must be returned within a maximum period of 1 month. If not, customers must pay the amount of €168.19 (VAT included) for each of the contracted devices.

Finally, the FTTR service is available to all customers who have a fiber rate with at least 300 Mbps. So those who have an HFC cable connection at home will not have the opportunity to contract this technology for their homes.
