There is no doubt that the Windows operating system is a successful product, which is why Microsoft has sometimes used it to promote other applications of its own. In fact, just a few days ago we told you that this was going to be extended to the new Windows 11, specifically some users had found ads in File Explorer.

To give you an idea, these advertising practices were found by some users of the Insider program in the most recent build released. In addition, the Redmond firm was using an element of the importance of the System File Explorer for this type of practice so little accepted. Evidently this little by little was expected to be extended to all users. Likewise, all this could be considered as a test movement by the software giant until its arrival in the final version.

As is usual in these cases, this caused quite a bit of outrage among the majority of users signed up for the Insider program. In fact, this is not the first time that Microsoft has shown advertisements in different sections of the operating system. But it seems that on this occasion he has listened to the complaints of his clients. We tell you all this because in these moments the company has publicly provided some clarifications about the controversial advertising movement.

Specifically, Microsoft now points out that the publication of these ads in the aforementioned File Explorer was not intentional. Thus, the director of the Windows Insider program wanted to make it clear to affected users that it was actually an experimental banner. All this means that it was not intended to be published publicly and externally, so it has been deactivated at this time.

Microsoft removes ads from Windows 11 Explorer

However, it is also important to point out that this public statement is somewhat worrying. The reason for all this is that Microsoft is not completely ruling out the possibility of ads being displayed in Explorer for other versions of the system in the future. It is true that this time they were published by accident, but it is not known if they will be released intentionally in a few weeks or months within Windows 11.

We already told you before that this type of movement is not the first time that they have occurred. The last time an ad was seen for File Explorer was to promote the spelling and grammar correction browser extension, Microsoft Editor. In the past, the company has also tried to insert OneDrive ads in this same section, but faced another significant backlash from users. In reality, this means that if the software giant continues down this path, it will probably come under fire for it again.

Now what many are wondering is if Redmond will take into account the opinions of its users in this regard in the future. What is undeniable is that the company employs a multitude of tactics in order to monetize most of its products. What many do not understand is the arrival of advertising in a system whose license, one way or another, was paid for.
