Almost no one is aware that Microsoft is currently betting heavily on Windows 11. Even more so if we take into consideration that Windows 10 is very close to its official end, something that will occur next October.

Hence, the software giant is focusing heavily on the development and improvement of the latest version of the operating system. At this moment the company urges us to download and update to the most recent version that was released just a few weeks ago, we refer to 24H2.

You should know that this is a version that has been with us since October 1, 2024 as an optional update for all users, both with compatible and incompatible devices. Now, starting in mid-January 2025, Microsoft has started automatically installing Windows 11 24H2 on fully compatible Windows 11 PCs.

And the company considers that at this moment, the most recent update has entered its most important phase of deployment. Basically, this means that, to the surprise of many users, it is now downloaded and installed automatically when the firm considers that the computer is fully compatible with the operating system. It is also important to keep in mind that this is taking place between home teams. Microsoft is not yet automatically updating business users to Windows 11 24H2.

This forced or automatic deployment is limited to the Home and Pro editions of Windows 11, that is, for almost everyone. However, we must keep in mind that this automatic update process is done in stages. This means that not everyone will automatically start seeing Windows 11 24H2 on their computers.

Prevent Windows 11 24H2 from reaching your PC on its own

Microsoft will launch the new version of the operating system to some users who will increase as the days go by. Those computers that are fully compatible will receive this forced installation over the next few weeks. As it could not be otherwise, the software giant is betting heavily on this new version and is trying to ensure that the majority have it on their computers as soon as possible.

Obviously, we can also send it manually by searching for updates directly from the Windows Update window.

But it may also happen that we do not want this specific version to reach our team on its own. Windows 11 itself gives us the possibility of postponing these automatic updates if we wish. In order to achieve this objective, we only have to access the Settings application, for example through the Win + I key combination. From there we go to the section called Windows Update.

Thus, in the section that says More options, we can pause the arrival of these updates for a few weeks. We only have to select the quantity of these from the drop-down list that will appear on the screen.
