Movistar Plus+ is one of the most complete entertainment spaces you can find today, as it offers a wide range of films, series, documentaries and sports exclusively, which many other telephone companies do not have the pleasure of boasting. According to the latest data, the Spanish video-on-demand platform has reached record audience figures in deferred viewing during the month of June, which positions it as the most watched pay channel.
Time-shifted broadcasts are becoming the preferred consumption of users, and this has been demonstrated over the last few years, especially with the arrival of streaming platforms for public and private channels. It seems that DTT is no longer the most suitable place to enjoy series and films at the time of their broadcast, so other alternatives are already being chosen to watch content of all kinds at any time.
At this point, Movistar Plus+ has managed to stand out as a delayed streaming platform last June, making it the preferred platform for watching all kinds of on-demand content. However, all of this has been possible thanks to its original series Segunda Muerte, which has positioned itself as one of the most watched series in its programming.
Deferred consumption time in June
This is evident from the new report on channels by average audience in deferred broadcasting prepared by Barlovento Comunicación, where it can be seen that the screen share has shot up considerably in June, with a consumption time of 7 minutes per day per person, which represents 4% of the total television consumption, and surpassing open television, which boasts 5 minutes per day per person, which represents 3%. Meanwhile, the total consumption of thematic pay-TV channels amounts to 11%.
It has also been determined that the cumulative delayed audience in June was 20.4 million viewers, with a daily average of 4 million.
It should be noted that all of this data was obtained by watching the seven days following the live broadcast on the channel.
Movistar Plus+ takes second place in delayed broadcasting
The Spanish pay-TV platform has entered the top genres of delayed programming, thanks to the clear preference of users for consuming series and films. The channels that are in the top 10 with the highest screen share of the total delayed viewing in June are Antena 3, La 1, La Sexta, Cuatro, Atreseries, Movistar Plus+, La 2, TV 3 and Mega.
As for delayed programming, Movistar Plus+ has managed to establish itself as a great success after the premiere of Segunda Muerte, a series that tells the story of a young police assistant who finds a corpse in a Cantabrian village, which seems to have been exhumed. This original production is in second place with its episode Viento del Norte, which registered 283,000 viewers on June 27, only behind Masterchef, with 382,000 viewers on June 10.
In this way, Movistar Plus+ manages to establish itself as the payment platform chosen by users to watch its main premieres on delay, as well as the episodes of one of the series that is most popular in Spain.
