Office is the most widely used office suite in both personal and professional environments. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are essential programs that any PC user should know, both for their daily work and for their professional future. Microsoft is constantly working and developing this software to be able to release new versions to users. And today, one of the most anticipated versions has just arrived: Office LTSC 2024.
Microsoft is betting heavily on its services. Microsoft 365 is one of the best known, a monthly subscription that, in exchange for a certain amount of money per month, allows us to access the latest versions of Office, extra space in OneDrive, and other additional benefits (such as removing Outlook ads). In this way, we can save some money each year, but Microsoft ensures a constant trickle of income. However, despite its great commitment to services, the company continues to launch versions of Office that require a single payment.
This new version of the office suite was first announced in March of this year, and a first preliminary version was released in April, allowing users to test all the improvements and new features that had been included in this version.
After another 6 months of development, Microsoft has decided that this new version of its office suite is ready, and has just launched it.
Office LTSC 2024 is coming
The new version of Office 2024 with extended support is now available. The LTSC versions of the office suite are characterized by being editions with fewer functions than those found in the Microsoft 365 subscription, but they have much more specialized support, very long-term updates, and, in addition, they do not need an Internet connection to be activated and work.
This new version comes to replace the current Office 2021, although the truth is that it is not going to bring major changes or revolutionary new features. Instead, what Microsoft has done is focus on improving the performance, stability and overall security of the suite so that users who choose it have the best possible service. Of course, there are some interesting changes compared to previous versions of the suite:
- New search features in Outlook.
- New math functions in Excel.
- Includes Project and Visio packages.
- It is definitively separated from Teams, which now has an independent download link.
Additionally, as an added bonus, this LTSC version of Office will have extended support for 5 years, during which Microsoft will release parts and updates to correct any bugs, problems, or vulnerabilities that may appear.
How to download
For the time being, as with all LTSC versions of Windows and Office, this one is primarily intended for businesses. In order to use it, you need to pay for a volume license that allows you to use the suite on a certain number of PCs within a company. Each LTSC license is valid for only 1 PC.
Home users cannot purchase LTSC licenses, as they are covered by the Microsoft 365 subscription and standard versions of the products. If you already have Microsoft 365, don’t worry, as you will already have the most up-to-date versions of Word, Excel, and other Office programs. On the other hand, if you are one of those who are still paying for the one-time paid versions of the programs, you are also in luck, because the new Office 2024 will reach all users in a few weeks.
