PowerToys is a set of tools for Windows designed by Microsoft itself that extend the functionality of the operating system. All of this for free and adding new features and improving some existing ones.
They are valid for both Windows 10 and Windows 11 and delight users around the world. We tell you this because the software giant has just released a new major update, which means that we now have PowerToys 0.86 available. Note that here we are going to find a good number of new features and improvements in several of its integrated tools.
Important news in PowerToys 0.86
One of the main improvements that we are going to find here and that has been expected for a long time, is the promised grouping of modules. Basically, what this allows us is to have a much more organized user interface. At the same time we are going to find new capabilities for existing modules and a lot of additional changes.
Unfortunately, in this newly released update we will not find new tools that Microsoft provides us. But for example, it is worth reviewing the Advanced Paste tool, it now has new abilities. It allows us to go from image to text or paste it into a file directly.
On the other hand, we will say that in the settings section, Microsoft adjusts the left navigation to group the utilities and move around the interface better. The main reason for this adjustment is that the number of utilities included in PowerToys continues to grow. Additionally, workspaces have received many bug fixes, including launching multiple instances of the same application in a single workspace.
In addition, the firm adds a telemetry option in the General Settings tab, although it is disabled by default. Microsoft encourages users to activate it, as they believe it helps direct their development efforts and be more efficient.
